The sprag works just fine.... just use the clutch competently and don't roll backwards on takeoff. If you're contemplating a t-case change to change gearing that's one thing. But if the primary motivator is to get away from the sprag, then it's a solution in search of a problem.

Looking at an an M35A3 rim and looking at a 10lug 5ton rim, it looks to me like it'd need recentering.

14's are getting scarce. I'd go with 395s or 16's . My preference is 16's on hemtt rims but 395s are much cheaper and work better on the stock 5ton combat rims. In your position I'd go 395s.

But the odds of slaving someone's 14 liter Cummins in their 5ton are reasonably high. Hate to have a component in the system that'd melt in the attempt....

Deuce pulls it just fine. The trailer has excellent brakes and a deuce actually stops better with it than without it. Pulling that trailer also alleviates the risk of failure associated with the deuce's single circuit brakes.

If someone pulls out in front of you you"ll kill them. Unbraked heavy trailer and it doesn't even transfer weight to the tow vehicle because there's no tongue weight. There is no stopping it in a hurry.
