I would start by pulling the controller card out and cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser.
Then I would unplug and clean the temp sensor on the Drivers side head( inner rear).

I would really like one of those, to sling over my shoulder on Opening Day of deer season. I'd just pull up to the guys in my truck, get out,sling that beast over my shoulder and walk into the woods. Leaving them all stunned.
Either air pack is interchangeable on the truck, with no modifications needed.
Either as a spare, will be useful later on down the road.
You will need to swap the old fittings, anytime you have a new air pack(they do not come with them)..

The correct Wellman GP for a CUCV is the 050, not the 070. They are supposed to heat up faster than AC60G GPs. 070 GPs are 24 volt. Use of them would only give you about half the heat of the correct GP. That would explain why yours are "slow".
Autolite and Wellman have NO bussiness...
