    M929 mud flap laws

Tractor supply place sells stall mats in 1/2" and 3/4" thickness for reasonably cheap. I cut it and use it for all kinds of stuff. It seems it'd be a reasonable choice for something to make a mud flap from. It may be a bit stiff if you're wanting to duplicate the folding oem dumptruck flaps.

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

I don't claim to have any special bonds, insurance, or licenses. I make this explicitly clear. If I've given misinformation please be specific. I'm willing to learn. I have in the past held a class A cdl with hazmat. I didn't suddenly forget everything when my license changed.

    M929 mud flap laws

Again, varies by state. Tx requires them on my 1ton dodge dually, but not on my M931A2. AZ requires them on the M931A2 but not the Dodge dually. As so many people stated above, whether mandated or not it's the considerate thing to do. Throw a rock and break someone's windshield and it makes...

Tires out of Red River Army depot (Hooks, TX)

I spent $4k on pristine looking 16r20's on hemtt rims out of hooks tx. Most of the tires still had the little nubbies on the tread. They arrived and the sidewalls were blown out of every last one of them. None of this was visible in the pics. I won't be doing that again.

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

James, the main area where you and I aren't in agreement is the degree of certainty as to whether there's a problem with that chamber. Your position as I understand it is "there's a cage bolt on it, therefor it's bad, leave it there." My position is "pull the bolt out and assess/test the brake...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

When air brake systems fail, the vehicle stops because the spring brakes apply. When the brakes are caged and the air brake system fails, you have no brakes because the spring brakes do not apply. Caging bolts only disable the spring brakes. Caging the brakes has no effect on the service brakes.

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Let me be completely clear. When flat towing one fully functional m939 series truck with another fully functional m939 series truck, there is no reason to use caging bolts. Connect towbars, connect safety chains, connect air lines, open the appropriate valves. You now have full brake...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

am I to understand that you advocate routinely caging the brakes when flat towing with a vehicle capable of supplying air?

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

with proper airlines hooked up the towed trucks brakes are applied when you mash the brake pedal. With proper airlines applied and cage bolts removed the towed truck's spring brakes apply if your air system fails. with proper airlines applied and cage bolts removed the towed truck's spring...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

If you supply air to the emergency circuit, it is very likely that the cage bolt will wiggle out anyway - the 120 psi is likely to compress the springs more than the cage bolt, allowing the cage bolt to rattle out. I won't tell you to go to school to learn this stuff, but you really really...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

Don't do it that way, seriously. Take that cage bolt out. See why it was in there in the first place. If your brakes are funtional, tow it with the service brakes live and the emergency spring brakes enabled. You're playing with tremendous forces here; there's no good reason to disable a safety...

Can someone explain these brake canister bolts to me?

While towing one truck with the other THERE IS NO REASON TO CAGE THE BRAKES! Hook up service brake air, and emergency brake air, AND LEAVE THE BRAKES UNCAGED. This way if something goes wrong, you still have your spring brakes applied . Otherwise if something goes wrong the towed vehicle has no...

How to secure safety chains when using a tow bar on a CUCV?

This Too much slack and you drag chain. Not enough slack and you jerk the chain in turns. One long chain, or two seperate chains doesn't seem like a big difference, except with one long chain if it breaks you've lost it all. I use one long chain + the 2 OEM chains when towing M1101 trailers...

What does your oil pressure gauge read

The NH250 oil pressure spec is higher than the 8.3. The TM calls for 15 psi at hot idle on the NH250 although typically they do run more than this. I'm with you, I like to see 40-60psi at a cold start up.

What does your oil pressure gauge read

Spec is 8 psi at hot idle, but most show more than that. What yours shows correlates to what I usually see on good ones.

    Monkeyboyarmy and Carnac

With next to no lead time Monkeyboyarmy grabbed a 2000lb pallet of chains out of Lockbourne and handed them off to Carnac in OH. Carnac in turn transported them to El Paso and handed them off to me today.... this is all greatly appreciated and goes well beyond what anyone could expect....
