You wont notice much of anything if you bump the timing up on a stock pump. Adjusting the timing helps when you add more fuel. Due to duration of the fuel injection cycle is very retarded due to safe settings of a stock pump. Also on stock settings, your lucky to get 20 psi of boost which wont...
Look up nevrenufhp on youtube. He has videos specifically for the Bosch MW pump on the 8.3 in the M939A2. I would start with putting an EGT gauge in the exhaust manifold and a boost gauge. Then start playing with the pump. Some of these trucks run hot from the factory and need to have a...
As of right now, Rausch Creek is closed due to social distancing laws. I will update this thread as time goes on. Hoping this will subside in the next few weeks. Stay safe everyone!
Ive never owned a CUCV or a deuce, I went straight to 5 tons as my first MV. lol. I wouldnt change a thing. I do have a good amount of mechanical experience and not afraid to tear into stuff. Given your circumstances, I would vote for a CUCV. Paying for parking gets old, as I have my truck...
Let us know how it works for you. Ive read about that company and their turbos. Seems like a good idea but not sure how it performs in real life.
Keep having fun with the truck! Thats what its all about!
Im glad your replacing the dog bone bushings, as they look like their done. One sentence of your first post has me thinking - " I've also noticed that while cruising down the road at +55mph the rear wheels are constantly bouncing - even with fresh tires" The dog bones do not add any suspension...
You might be able to squeeze 8 mpg out of a M11 with the right OD ratio. These trucks do not have good gearing or any aerodynamics. My vote would be a mechanical M11 & 13 speed trans. They are 500 pounds lighter than an N14, much cheaper and can still put out plenty of power to move your 934...
N14s are expensive and slightly bigger than big cams, due to the intercooler and different heads. Plus most of them are computer controlled, its hard to find a PT pump on a N14. Plus a lot of OTR trucks are still using them in glider kits and refurb trucks
Ive never heard of anyone swapping in a 60 series. Probably because its computer controlled and no one wants to deal with that.
Big OTR motors have been put in 5 tons. Some guys have made the rest of the drive train last, some guys have blown up trans and transfer cases. It depends on your...
Im not an air brake expert, so I would like to know the reasons for retro fitting the outboard drums? Going from memory, once the tire & rim are off the axle, the brake drum can be removed without removing anything else. What benefits to the outboard drums provide?
Truck looks great by the...

Since you have a 925, Ill give you my set up. I have a 923a2 with a 10 ton dump hoist fabricated under the stock bed. I had a large backyard project to tackle and I wanted to keep the troop bed for its functionality after the project was done. I like my set up. I haul about 7 yards at a time...
I love when people do their own work and fabricate something new but did the new brackets you make connect to the frame of the truck? The bed is only held on with a few bolts, I wouldnt trust the bed to support the hitch brackets. You need to attach the brackets to the truck frame.
Im heading up to Buffalo NY from NYC last week of January. Will have an empty deck over trailer on the way and have room on the way back. Will be taking Route 17 along the Southern Tier of NY. Can pick up and drop off along the way.
The 8LL, is an Eaton Fuller 8 speed manual transmission is a low low reduction gear, thus the "LL" designation. There are many options from Eaton Fuller and other heavy truck transmissions. I believe my friend used the 8LL since its the shortest heavy duty manual you can get. There is limited...
One of my friends just sold his bobbed 923a2 with an Eaton Fuller 8LL and rear locker. Besides being a very clean and well taken care of truck, the transmission was awesome. With G177s, he could cruise at 1700 rpm doing 70mph and get great fuel mileage. Then while off roading, he had such low...
