Thanks for your reply. I’m still struggling to understand exactly what the valve is supposed to do. Is it to keep positive pressure in the crankcase or negative? Is the valve set at 5 LBS? is the valve similar to a thermostat but opens upon pressure instead of temperature? So the negative...
I am just now exchanging emails with the fellow at Bullet in Austrailia. I have concluded that the CDR valve will have to be removed in its entirety. I have no problem with this, just need to know what to do about crankcase venting. Don't need vacuum anymore, changing the TH400 to 700R4...
I am considering supercharging my new P400 engine and was wondering what would happen when I completely remove my CDR valce and piping. In thinking about this, I began pondering what happens to the valve when adding a turbo or supercharger, as the additional boost/intake pressure would...
Well the ProCharger will not work. I spoke with a ProCharger engineer on the phone and he informed me that their compressors are designed for high RPMs and would not be beneficial at the low RPMs of a diesel.
So I reached out to Bullet Superchargers in Australia...
I've had my Jatonka grille cover for a few years and it really improves the winter-time heating in the cab. I purchased mine directly from John. You can reach him at jatonka@telenet.net . Great guy to work with.
Yeah I'm tired of catching hail about not turboing this P400 engine. Still not going to turbo it, but got to looking at the Procharger superchargers. They mount similar to an alternator or AC compressor and run off a belt from a crank pulley. Exactly what I've been looking for to keep as much...
For those of you who have followed my rebuild thread over in the CUCV Hotrodding forum, you may know that I am installing a new Vintage Air air conditioning kit. Vintage Air can provide everything necessary to install A/C in our trucks except the custom brackets needed for our dual alternator...
I'll second that! When you install the new flex plate, remember to use blue Loktite on those special flex plate bolts and torque them to spec. You may want to clean out the threaded holes with acetone before installing the bolts so the Loktite will grab properly.
I have no desire or intention of engaging with you in a debate on this issue. To respond to your condescending remark, I can assure you that I completely understand these engines and how they operate. You are in business trying to sell your $300 kits. I get that. However having followed your...
Yeah swapping in a new Fluidampr was the first thing I done to my M1028 in 2010. My engine only had 12,338 miles when I got it. A little north of 15,000 now. My new P400 came from GEP with a new GM damper but I said, wth, might as well install a Fluidampr on there as well. So I have spent over...
There’s not much way to “eyeball” it. Trust me, 1/16” of an inch will make a difference. The alternator could possibly be close to aligned, but I would bet the ps pulley is off. Make sure all 4 ps bolts are in place and tight when you check for alignment. And remember that bottom ps bolt has...
The belt “strum” is a true indication of non-alignment. If you will align those pulleys all the problems will go away. Ask me how I know. Hope this helps.
Regarding your belts, I will suggest that you align the pulleys instead of diving into a custom idler fabrication. I’ve been changing belts on these things since the mid 1960’s and a few years ago I decided to figure out what was causing the belts to stretch and squeak. I discovered that the...
