I'm sorry, I should have clarified better. If I have my original card in my M1009 and start it 8 times in one day - the GPR will chatter for less than 1 second on the first start of the day (when the GPR disengages) and that is it. But if I put the Legacy card in - and I start it 8 times in...
Right now if it sits overnight - the GPR will buzz for less than 1 second when the GPR disengagaes. If I use the Legacy controller - the GPR will buzz for 2 - 3 seconds every time the GPR disengages
You're right - I saw that it said NOS - is there anywhere a guy can actually buy a real NOS controller? I don't think the ones that are made today work as well. The Legacy does work - only to have the GPR chatter problems. I guess that I am too picky - but I am willing to pay more for...
I saw one on Ebay a couple of days ago. Is that expensive? I don't know what they are worth - other than not to waste another $79 for one that doesn't work
I absolutely have chatter or buzzing of the GPR. I cleaned all connections and the ground buss bar where the controller card gets its ground. Measured voltages on both sides of the GPR - 12.7 volts. Load tested both battiers. If I use the CUCV electronics Legacy card - it buzzes every time...
Glow plug relay chatter
I tested all 8 glowplugs - all good - 2 month old glow plug relay from Napa. If I put the original controller card in - it only chatters every now and then. Put the new Legacy card in and it chatters every time it ends its cycle. Also how long shoud it do the post glow...
I have the exact same chatter after I bought a controller from CUCV electronics (CUCV Legacy). I called him and he really didn't have any answer except that it won't hurt anything
M1009 fuel line
I did replace the fuel line - I just used regular 3/8 fuel line and re-routed it so it wouldn't kink. I also used plastic loom to isolate it and used lots of plastic zip ties
My 1986 M1009 has a light whining noise when going down the road (not a dry road, I only use 4 wheel on slick roads) in 4 wheel drive. The 4 wheel drive works great, all u-joints are good, no leaks on front differential or transfercase. All fluids are full (in transfercase, transmission, &...
What actually makes a M1009 a 3/4 ton? They just have standard corp. axles that are used on 1/2 tons. Did they add extra springs to call it a 3/4 ton instead of a 1/2 ton?
Thanks
Has anybody used 16" wheels on a M1009? I have a set of factory 16" wheels off a 1988 K1500 chevy pickup that I used to have. Will these wheels and tires work? They are 6 lug.
Thanks
Inlet fuel line
Thanks for the advice. If I run regular hose, then you just by-pass the steel line? I tried to use regular line and still use the steel line and it had kinked on me because of the sharp bends.
Thanks
The inlet rubber preformed fuel hose (part # 14063391) is leaking. This is the hose that goes on the lift pump. NOBODY can get me this hose. GM says it is obsolete and all parts stores can't get it. Has anybody replaced this hose with something else?
Thanks
It looks my my fuel lift pump is leaking. It is very close to the crossmember. Is it replacable without removing the right side motor mount or jacking up the engine. Would it be better to install a electric pump and by-pass the mechanical one?
Do these pumps ever leak externally at the middle...
I was wondering how the STE ICE unit works for my 1986 M1009. The engine does not have a ECM on it, is the STE ICE plug just for testing the individual sensors(oil pressure, water temp) and others, or does this plug connect to other things that I don't realize?
My 1986 M1009 odometer has 7 digits ( 6 and a 1/10th)
All other M1009's that I have seen only has 6 digits. Was my odometer/speedometer replaced before I bought it from the military, or did some of them have 7 digits?
Thanks
I adjusted the vacuum valve on the side of the IP amout 1/4" - 3/8" towards the firewall. That made all the difference in the world. About 95% of the time it shifts like a car warm or cold now. It was adjusted all the way towards the front as far as it would go before I adjusted it. Are all...
My 1986 M1009 shifts real hard from 1st to 2nd when it is warmed up. It shifts smooth from 1st to 2nd when it is cold. It always shifts from 1st to 2nd about 25-30mph warm or cold and 45mph from 2nd to 3rd. I already changed my vacuum lines. Why does it shift smooth when it is cold - and...
