No forward or reverse movement at running temps

Thanks. After looking at the ATF flow diagrams in the manual that's what I came up with as well. I'm in the process of doing that now. I'm going to try a higher temp synthetic to keep the temp down, and monitor the transfer case temps. I might not need the cooling loop as much as I think.

    M1030B1 KLR650 Summer project completed

This 'basket case' M1030B1 parts project was delivered without a 'basket'. But the most important things were there, blackout lights and switch. Went thru everything - AOK, everything else was Ebay KLR650 used replacement parts. Runs great and has less than 1000 miles. Great summer project...

No forward or reverse movement at running temps

It was the Vampire Disease. ATF was being sucked into the TCase filling it to the vent. The previous owner must have kept filling the tranny with ATF as well, it was 2X overfilled more than it should be.

    Turret Leak Fix Materials

When moving it seems there's a vacuum created in the cab that sucks rainwater in no matter what. :) Puddling water accumulated in the lower ring channel will eventually seep/slosh in(hatch, thru-bolts). One time after a long trip I had 4 inches of water in the forward footwells, I installed...

No forward or reverse movement at running temps

Yeah, 13 years after it was delivered the Marines sent it for an IROAN rebuild with 17 miles on it. :)

    3 switch Headlight switch

Make sure the rear electrical connector spanner nut is good and tight, can't say how many intermittent problems I've had with my GP's until I torqued it down.

    Upgraded seat install

Did this upgrade, there was a time when surplused out 'upgrade kits' were so cheap I bout a set for the back seats too.

No forward or reverse movement at running temps

My 1985 HMMWV is a garage queen with about 3000 miles. It always starts and runs perfectly for the dozen or so local events. Saturday I was running late to an event a few miles away and stomped on it from all the lights, I noticed there was a lot of rpm's but no acceleration or increasing speed...

Here's the one I used. $88 no shipping cost. Still there.

    Snorkel idea

I had a lot of fun using 'conductive' grease(not dielectric) on all the connector contacts and rtv sealing them. All the circuit boards are coated with a silicone rubber conformal coating to waterproof them. Then all the connectors are silicone fusing taped for waterproofing. Did the best I...

    Snorkel idea

Yeah, saw that. The clincher was finding that chinese ebay copy of the expensive snorkel. There was a thread on another forum about a Dante's Peak Suburban which used it too.

    Snorkel idea

Haha, yeah splashing around is one thing but going deeper than the air cleaner(now at 4 feet) would require passengers having scuba gear. My HMMWV radiator fan shuts off under water, pressurizes things with a cockpit air valve and uses different better sealing caps for oil, hydraulic pump...

    Snorkel idea

Both the winch and the girl are removable. Pushbars can be removed, winch mount had handles for removal, tow rings, things got real complicated up front there. In the end I just got another 2 inch receiver winch mount for the rear winch instead of messing around with moving the front...

    Snorkel idea

After searching out all the snorkel threads and posts I decided this was the quick, cheap and easy way out. $80 on Ebay and made for a Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser it's an exact Chinese copy of an ARB Safari at 5X the price(minus the logo). Throw the paper template on, drill the mount holes and...

NLCUCV - No-Lift CUCV with HMMWV tires

The aluminum adapters are talked about in other threads in the forum, I bought mine so long ago I don't remember the source, Ebay I think. They change the bolt pattern to the HMMWV wheel pattern and space the wheels out for the right backspacing. As far as the wheel/tire assemblies, I got them...

NLCUCV - No-Lift CUCV with HMMWV tires

I just drove it around the block a few times and there is no vibration issue, the tire/wheel assemblies came with mil balance weights on 'em, for what that's worth. All I have to compare the ride to is my M1036 TOW HMMWV, the CUCV's ride is smoother, I might even air them down to 35psi since the...
