    New (to me) M178A1

Mad D. found it on Craigslist out of Big Lake. Now I need to sell a 5 ton I bought last fall. Boss says can't keep both. Pics coming soon and it was a big hit in Valdez's 4th parade.

    New (to me) M178A1

Hello all. Just picked up a 2000 M1078A1 w/ 7K in miles. Definitely a quieter ride than the M35.

    M200 converter dolly

Fifth wheel plate appears to be sitting pretty high to me. What trailer are you going to use it on?

    Alaska to Alabama in Brutus

Hitting I-5 is the way to go for making time. Don't think about HWY 101 if you want to make time, too many RV's doing about 20mph and winding road. Beautiful drive if you have the time. Check you maps for the I-205 bypass around Portland, well worth missing driving through downtown there...

    Another M146 Build

Dawg: Currently only have air to the 146. Down the road I'll hook up to the 200 for both air and lights. For now it's ready for the Gold Rush Days parade this next month.

    Another M146 Build

Not much new on the build. But went for the first road test (finally didn't rain) and it went very well. Trailer pulled straight with no problems. Didn't go very far from home just is case. It does look good, at least to me.

    Another M146 Build

Did just a little more work on the dolly. Put in some extra bracing and moved the fifth wheel ahead a few more inches. Hopefully take it out this weekend for a little shakedown run and see how it works before everything gets welded down for good. Also hope to have it ready for the next parade...

    Another M146 Build

Rayzer, Thanks, there is some expanded metal in the furture for between the frame rails. I probably will end up putting some bracing on there. It looks like it's missing something. But at least for now it should be ok for moving it around.

    Another M146 Build

Well, I got the dolly done for the most part. Needs a little more done to it but it fits and now I can move the trailer around the yard alot easier. I didn't install any other cross bracing on it now but I can later on if it needs it. I just used 1/2 inch steel plate to mount the fifth wheel...

Question on an AK roadtrip through Canada

We just made the trip up from Oregon with a car and not a deuce but here's a little info. We grabbed the ferry from Bellingham to Haines. Alaska Marine Highway charges by the foot. Takes right around 3 days so if you can get a stateroom, makes it nicer. From Haines there's good fuel stops in...

    Another M146 Build

Maddawg: That's where I got the idea to start this was from Armyman's dolly build and will use his plans when I start mine. Rayzer: It's in real good shape for a 1964 vintage. It looks like the brake lines were completely redone. The floor and inside and clean and it still has all the...

    Another M146 Build

Almost forgot also have the parts for a dolly for this is going behind my Deuce. I'm going to be busy for a while on this build but looking forward to it.

    Another M146 Build

Well, I finally got one and now the fun starts. Going to make this into an offroad camping/hunting trailer. At least that's the plans for now. Here's a few pics before the carnage begins. Going to strip down the inside so I can really insulate it and plumb my woodstove and get a good look at...

    Deuce/5 ton ROPS Kit?

Since the guys driving the "monster trucks" have made a cage that works for them and their trucks are around 10K lbs, a viable cage/ROPS seems very possilbe. And whether to have it outside of the cab or inside would depend on what the individual would want. It's just going to take a little...

    Genset

Thanks for all the info. I know it's a bit large for a home backup but for the price I just couldn't resist. For $890 from GL in Fairbanks is what I got it for so I can't complain. It may end up at a mining camp some day.

    Genset

It is a little overkill for a backup generator but oh well the price was right. But it is missing some component (in the fourth pic) and not sure what it is but I should be able to find out what or if someone here nows what is missing and could clue me in that would be great.

Now lets see your truck in the snow

Valdez, winter, snow, still digging. Enough said.

    Alaska Deuce

I slept too late and missed the end of it. I was looking at it and the wrecker, don't know what they finally went for but on Wednesday the deuce was only up to around $600 and the wrecker around $900. Next time I'll set my alarm.

    Rare MV? 1956 M220

It looks like it was set up as a mobile logging tower, just missing the tower.

    how bad is your yard?

Right now all I have is snow. Makes everything look clean.
