RE: The two oldest boys bought their first duece!
Nice looking truck, you and the boys should be pleased. I bought my first deuce last January and it has been a blast. Half of the fun has been learning about the truck, mostly through this site. Added my winch yesterday, already had the...
After spending several hours searching old posts and seeing all the discussion on oil filters for the deuce/multifuel, it is obvious that many have problems with the filter set up. The specific problem that I have encountered, since the temps have dropped below freezing, is the front filter now...
nickd,
thats a good idea for holding a truck for winching something else. But, what about when you are stuck and there nothing to tie to so you can pull yourself out?
Thats the one I have been looking at, definately will build one before paying those prices. Just wanted to see what other ideas are out there or maybe what the guys on this site do when another truck or large enough tree is not available.
Anyone have a good design for a winch deadman? Have searched the web, only to find a couple ideas. Would like to come up with something that is portable and doesn't weigh as much as the deuce.
My winch showed up today, waiting on PTO and extensions/brackets. Hope to get started soon. Will try and post pics as I go, to help the next guy with the questions I have had. Have found a lot of good info on this site already, but there always seems to be something missing.
Obviously new tires/designs are not always the answer. If you recall the issues that Firestone had a couple years ago. I haven't experienced anything like that with the NDCC's on my deuce.
On New Year's Day a bunch of us get together for a disorganized day of playing in the mud. Took the Deuce for the first time, used tire chains on all axles. What a difference they made. The only thing that scares me now is getting stuck with the chains. Hot on the trail of adding a winch...
Westfolk,
Thanks for the info, checked their prices, seems almost to good to be true compared to most I've seen. Have you bought from them? Did you pick it up or have it shipped?
I have been researching adding a winch to my '72 AMG M35a2c for several months. Looking through TMs, and the forums. Many great articles and useful information. Many of you seem to have done this with out a great deal of trouble. I still need the winch, been looking for the best deal. Have...
Boatcarpenter,
No luck on parts from Saturn. You said that you replaced the spring on the eccentric stabilizer, this is still the part I need, did you purchase it or did you find a used one?
