Any 6.2 diesel main stud girdle users?

I have been running my 6.2 diesels for about 5 years now and have never had a broken crank or bottom end failure. Both of my trucks now have banks turbo kits with: ARP head studs with 6.5 turbo head gaskets ARP main studs with custom full length girdles made with 3/8" angle iron. I know that...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

So I took it for a test drive to work today. Temp gauge was reading right at 200, so on the freeway I pulled the knob and open the bypass. The temp decreased by about 5 degrees, so my plan looks like it should work but still does not tell me what it might do it a up hill climb. Hopefully I...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

I think the cavitation issues we're do to running a non-bypass style crossover or restricting the bypass. The truck in the picture is getting a aftermarket temp gauge with sensor also mounted in crossover pipe and it still has the factory temp gauge setup (just wanted a more accurate temp...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

I'll just play with it and see what happens, if it is not needed then i'll just remove it.

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

The penninsular HO pump was made for standard rotation v-belt setup, its rated at 110 gpm vs 140gpm with the 6.5 HO pump so I would not be risking cavitation. So with the dual thermostats, wouldn't it flow to much to fast? I have heard of 6.5 engine builders that run just a single thermostat...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

Ok, well my suburban does have a aftermarket temp gauge with the sensor mounted in the crossover pipe right next to the thermostat. Would this give it a higher reading, rather then the stock location next to the #1 cyl? Also what was the purpose of GM changing to a dual thermostat and HO...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

My suburban is on 1 ton axles with a 4 inch lift and 37 humvee tires, hauling a load of camping/hunting gear too.

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

Same way the dual thermostat system works, but i'm in control of the second thermostat. I believe in the dual thermostat system, one stat is 180 and one is 195. So if i'm hitting a long hill and the temp begins to climb, I can pull the cable knob in the cab and let more coolant flow to...

What do you think of my cheap dual thermostat setup

Hey guys, thought I would post this up and show you my idea for a cheap alternative to the 6.5 dual thermostat setup. Now from the beginning, I already had a crossover from a newer 6.2 diesel truck that has a port for the temp switch or sensor, but these can be source online or even adapt the...

Really dreading what this sound could mean... Any ideas?

The rods that connect the bell housing to engine mounts, are not that important. But... I installed them on my m1008, because they can hold the tranny to engine when those bolts come loose. Yes this has happen to me on my k5 6.2/700r4, I believe these rods saved my tranny from breaking the...

Really dreading what this sound could mean... Any ideas?

The cucv trucks did not come with those.

Really dreading what this sound could mean... Any ideas?

Maybe my hearing is bad, but it sounds normal? Video sounds never really work unless its very loud. Anyways first check the torque converter to flywheel bolts, make sure they are all tight. Also check flywheel for cracks or breakage too.

    Transmission disappearing fluid

I had same thing happen, it was the input shaft seal in between tranny and transfer case. Hard to tell, as it leaked mostly when driving, it did coat my driveshaft and rear end with fluid. Pull transfer case fill plug and see if it seeps out. Its not really a hard job, the transfer case can...

    M1008 Fuel Mileage

I've seen alot of wishful thinking mileage during my research and have decided that anything over 20mpg is unreachable unless you have a 2wd 1/2 ton pickup with the right gearing and a 700r4. My 87 suburban 4inch/37 tires th400 get 14 mpg calculated. My m1008 4 inch/33 tires th400 gets 15-16...

    6.2 timing help

Hey guys, I have been searching for a long time for timing specs on pulse and timing light for our 6.2's. I have the Blue point mt257b diesel pulse adapter and a innova timing light, so far with that hooked up I get a 8 degree BTDC reading with light at 1400RPMS. I this correct? I know that...

Used Banks Sidewinder - to buy or not?

I love mine so much, I got another kit for $1500 new for my other 6.2 truck. I'm running 10 psi max and it will run at 1000-1050 egt on a good long hill, also the coolant temp will go up to around 220. This setup is on a 1987 suburban with a 4inch lift and big humvee tires, with dana 60/14...

    Spare tire

I made my own spare tire carrier for under my M1008 with some threaded rod and a piece of U shape metal from Home Depot. Its a pain in the ass the put it up there, but i have only had maybe 3 flats in my 15 years of driving.
