At the weekend I did the Doghead Conversion (I have voted and added to the thread) on my '85 M1009.:)
Three things: what kind of bulb does the under-dash light take (a pic would really help) as it looks like an uncommon (in the UK) fitting, and - do members have any suggestions how I can safely...
Did the Doghead Conversion on my 85 M1009 at the weekend. I found a lawn mower solenoid on a well-known auction site in the UK for £9.99 shipped. It took about an hour and a half to do following the instructions here and my truck started up afterwards. AND I discovered the under-dash lamp but...
I'm no expert - but have you checked your dog's head conversion?
LOL
PS I'm going to get my ears examined as I thought that sounded sweet compared to my M1009
Hi,
Has anyone fitted Humvee three point seat belts in their M1009? I have seen some advertised but the ad is vague about whether they would fit saying that - adaptation to non-Humvee vehicles might require 'some skill'.
Do you need new bolts, will the supplied ones fit? Any advice would be...
Hi guys,
I have just been down to my '85 M1009 and check things are okay (and scoping out the dodhead conversion). It is stored in a barn which is generally dry.
Just closing the truck door I felt that the door seal - the one on the body - was sticky!
I am talking about the textured moulded...
Another W&P video
And this one which gives you a better idea of what you can see at W&P. This is what was happening at the furthest edge of the showground - in the distance from the race track grandstand. Traffic like this is moving around the site all day everyday and while the show is open to...
You wanted a CUCV in M1009
Hi,
How about this M1009 I photographed in 2008 at the War & Peace Show in England? I think it came from Holland and I recall it being in a great overall condition and the paint job was superb, standing out from the usual three-colours seen on the showground.
A mere...
I am looking around for new seat belts for my M1009 and particularly the floor-mounted receivers (the originals could do with a little blue pill to help them stand up off the floor!). Would the similar-looking female items for the S10 accept the K5 seat belt male end on a 1985 manufactured...
Hi Dave,
I know what you mean. I had to dismantle my 'knob assembly' as it was not engaging LOCK. It took me ages to realise - you remove the sticker over the centre of the hub - yours has a white arrow on it. If you are careful you can prise it clear with a sharp screwdriver. It is a flexible...
Hi guys,
I have my 85' M1009 front axle up on stands (fitting steering stabilizer and checking over and freeing disc brakes after having hot hubs - especially passenger side).
The driver's side Locking Hub will lock - tested by turning the rotor and the shaft turns.
The passenger side hub...
Hi robd,
Congratulations. My 1009 could be your twin but in green, the same rust and the same dings and dents. I have had mine (bought in the United Kingdom) for a couple of months and am only now getting stuck into it. Ditto on the body rust - my floor needs some serious work and is a high...
Thanks guys,
I knew someone here would come back quick on this. It will get rubbed down and rust treated.
The truck came with the original tar-backed floor mat which is now a mass of holes, splits and tears and two custom made rubber mats. I might cut the original mat to cover the tranny hump...
Hi guys,
Steve from the United Kingdom here.
It is now three months since I became the proud owner of a 1985 M1009 – my first MV (pictured on back of beavertail)!
The usual challenges occurred before I could get it home including passing the MOT (an annual roadworthiness test on vehicles older...
Hi Pete and Warthog,
John at Hillbilly Wizard came good and I now have two speedo sleeves (one spare). It is being fitted and hopefully my Blazer will get on the road, I can get it to my place and start playing with it.
Thanks for the recommendations from SS members.
Steve
Hi Pete, and Warthog,
Here is the little swine - as you can see the outside helical gear is almost gone! I have contacted John at Hillbilly Wizard on your advice.
Thanks for your help and hopefully I can get my Blazer rolling again!
Steve
Hi Warthog,
Thanks for your input on this. It is not the gear, effectively at the end of the speedo cable drive (blue or yellow with 41 or 44 teeth?), but the gear which turns that INSIDE the transfer case.
Steve
