M928A1....to scrap or not to scrap...that is the question.

So my time to work on military vehicles comes in waves and since I had the original problem with this truck I've added three kids to the household so all of the time that I used to have, well......... The military made me move away from my family property where the truck is parked so I just...

M984 wrecker accesories. What to do with them?

Yeah, I just hate to toss something if someone can use it and it may be hard to find. I'll pull it all out and take better pics as soon as I can.

M984 wrecker accesories. What to do with them?

Hello all, I was recently given allot of accessories from, I believe, an M984 wrecker. I am keeping some of the universal stuff like the vice, the snatch block, dog bone, and the axle clamps but most of the rest of the stuff I don't know what to do with it and I will probably haul it to the...

M928A1....to scrap or not to scrap...that is the question.

Well I know that it has been awhile but I finally got a chance to work on the truck again and I figured that I would post an update. With the other issues that I had with the truck long the suspect compressor and the minor knocking I assumed that whatever had let go would be related but it...

Folding tire davit......How is supposed to work/look?

OK, I see the picture. I wonder if it would fit in the tool box when folded up?

Folding tire davit......How is supposed to work/look?

Yes, in a very limited fashion. The A1 and A2 davits did not fold in any way but the first M939 generation trucks had a davit that folded. I can make guesses as to how it folds (mine is inop at the moment) and the -10 does suggest that it was done to reduce vehicle height for shipping. I guess...

Folding tire davit......How is supposed to work/look?

I have an M931 with the 11.00x20s and it has the folding style tire davit. I managed to break one of the pivot pins and considered just welding the davit solid more like the later davits found on the A1 and A2 trucks but first I wanted to know what would I be losing by doing so? What was the...

New M816 in MO need help and advice.

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah between my experiences already and the info I've found here I feel pretty prepared but I just wasn't sure if maybe there were some 800 series specific things I should look for. I have my standard kit of tools and I'll have my pickup with me as well so hopefully...

New M816 in MO need help and advice.

I just won an auction for a running and working M816 that looks fairly complete from a well known auction site. I got it for $5100, I have always wanted one but it was kind of an impulse purchase that I didn't actually expect to win. I have questions and need advice: 1. This my first 800 series...

M928A1....to scrap or not to scrap...that is the question.

Anybody else have any ideas on this? Could it be the air compressor?

M928A1....to scrap or not to scrap...that is the question.

OK so I finally got a chance to look inside but the results are not exciting. There is nothing wrong that I can see. There was no obvious metal in the oil and no giblets in the oil pan. There wasn't even much metal on the drain pug magnet as compared to others I've seen. A bunch of intact...
