I have been trying to get my Deuce driven up to Tupelo from Hattiesburg, MS for a couple of weekends now. It's about 200 miles. Of course one problem after another as the vehicle has sat unused since March. I finally got it on the road Saturday and was doing pretty well until IT happened. It...
Cheese and Crackers!!! If I got half that for mine I'd still be getting double what I paid! I think the Gov't may almost get some of their money back on that sale.
I have lost my rpm readout and my fuel readout. They were working when I first got the truck but have since given out on me. Voltage, air pressure, oil pressure and speedometer all still work. Any thoughts?
RE: clutch
Well, its not losing speed on hills, at least not because of slippage. Think I'm going to have to take it out for a run and see what other symptoms I can find.
RE: clutch
Checked out the clutch adjustment and it has adequate free play. The engine rpm does increase much faster than the actual truck speed. Can anyone tell me how to visually id the lube point for the clutch linkage?
Doesn't feel like a u-joint, plus it gets better once the truck gets up to the middle to top end of the speed in whatever gear it is in. Clutch seems to engage adequately for shifting at about 2/3 depression but the pedal is run all the way up.
My deuce seems to accumulate exhaust fumes in the cab. its not strong, just an odor of diesel burn, goes away when I crack one of the front windows. I don't remember this from the trucks I drove for Uncle Sam, is anyone else experiencing this?
I'm getting a vibration about halfway through 4th gear (RPM wise) and the same n 5th gear. The vibration and noise seems to correspond with a feeling like the clutch is yet not fully engaged. Any thoughts?
Any one have any thoughts on the shelf life of WVO? I have about 30 gallons that I haven't been able to get used yet and am wondering if I need to start worrying about bacterial issues yet.
Bjorn, any chance you could point me in the direction of some tire chains? When I was a youngun we had about 6 surplus jeeps out at our camp way back in the woods on the Louisiana state line, pretty rugged place. All of the roads are old sunken wagon roads from a time when the back country...
When I went to start up this morning I heard a sizzle from the battery box, upon investigation I found that the negative terminal on my ground side battery had melted. I thought the problem was a loose connection between the batteries so I pulled the connector and bypassed with jumpers, same...
Ya'll oughta try hunting down here in South Mississippi, its been in the upper 70's with 200% humidity. I am sure that the deer can smell the fresh blood drawn by the mosquitoes. Looking forward to the 30's this weekend.
