35" Tires On Stock Lift M1009

Great! How does it do off-road? Any big change in MPG?

35" Tires On Stock Lift M1009

Anyone ever done this? I'm about to trade some old 31" Super Swamper Thornbirds for a set of my choice of 35" Geolander MT's or 35" Dunlop Mud Rovers. I want to run 35's but I'm low on money and cant buy a lift kit at the moment. I'm wondering how much trimming I would need. If it's just a...

    Thumping / popping while driving...

The other day my camo love-machine started to get a little salty on me. Started doing this whole thumping deal when I go over, like...5 mph. The faster I go, the more it thumps. I cant really tell where it's coming from. But I can feel it in the floorboards and it seems like it's somewhere up...

LOL I thought the TP35 on my fenders was a unit number!

Aw....guess I'm gunna be the first to ask. :p What does TP mean? Mine says TP-40. I also have what looks like sharpie on my door panel that's a 0 with a / through it. And on the gate, a sheild with a wrench in a fist.

What do your neighbors and other drivers think of your CUCV

I moved from farm country to suburbia recently. When I first moved, I had a lifted Chevy K10. So that eased them in. Then came the camo M1009. I think for the most part, people think Army...or Chevy K5. I get tons of compliments at school and work. Nobody really hates it that I know of. I dont...

In Need of Help with CUCV Issue

You could also just disconnect the the wire from the resistor side (the one that connects the Glow Plug Relay to the resistor), and just run it straight to the 12v Bus. Like this:

    Where's Your License Plate?

Anyone know the license plate laws for Virginia? I know civy vehicles need a light and plates front and rear. Are military vehicles any different? My plate is mounted on the tailgate, drivers' side. But when I drop the tailgate, it aint visible anymore. Which I'm guessing I would need to...

    thundering M1008 3" straight piped

Great looking truck! I've got Thornbird tires too...and those are louder than the truck at highway speeds on stock mufflers! I always wondered what that smell was when driving after a while...never would have thought it was the tires cooking off. I know the rubber is soft, but that's just...

    M1009 not starting..

I got it working! Started right up. I used the AC60G plugs. $75 for all 8. None of the GPs had a ohm reading. I also bypassed the resistors. Only problem is, I heard something buzz (after the seatbelt buzz went off) when I was letting the plugs cycle. I cant hear the relay clicking on or...

    M1010

Not sure if he still gets on here or not, but I just bought an M1009 from him. The M1010 looks AWESOME! He cut out the back of a cab off a junker truck and welded it in there and put on a flat bed. Great looking truck.

    M1009 not starting..

Let me see if I got this right before I tackle it. Remove the 24v feed on top. Run a wire (what gauge?) from the - terminal on the back battery. And test it?

    M1009 not starting..

When I touch them together, I believe it said 0.2 ohms Ok, great! Well, not really cause that means just about all of them are bad.

    M1009 not starting..

I'm guessing the multimeter is just...suck. I tried grounding from the exhaust stud, alt ground bolt, alternator, etc and I got nothing other than "Open Loop"...found out what that meant. I'm gunna run to the Advance Auto after school and get a new multimeter. I'm thinking I might go analog...

    M1009 not starting..

I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong. The multimeter is set to ohms 200, I clamped the black wire to the alternator mount thing. I touch the red wired tip to the GP spade and it's still reading OL. Aint sure what that means, but it reads that the whole time. Am I doing something wrong or...

Sorry! Yes, the wait light does come on. And I can hear the relay switching.

    M1009 not starting..

Thanks a lot for that! That was the most detailed and well...dumbed down enough for me, that I could find by searching through here. I dont believe anything has been bypassed and everything should still be stock 24v. Thanks a lot. I'll look into the bypassing.

    M1009 not starting..

Since there is smoke coming out the exhaust while cranking, can I set off the fuel delivery problem for now and check GPs first? Is there a thread on how to check the GPs? I read the TM and it told me what to check, but I have no idea really what it is or how to do it. If anyone would mind...
