The review linked isn't the same headlights.
That is a review of the round (multi-LED) style.
I have the LED's in my 1009 and love them.
They are a reflector style light with a single LED for low-beam and a single LED for high-beam.
Can run them on 12 or 24 volts.
They have a great cut-off...
You know I tried that rainx stuff a dozen or so years ago.
It was great for maybe a few weeks. Iritated the heck out of me that you could see where the wipers wore it off. Needs constant re-application and your windshield has to be absolutely spotless before applying or you seal the dirt in. In...
Did you get her to fire?
We had that one particularly cold night it got down to -16 here at the house.
The next morning none of my vehicles would fire. It wiped out all 4 of my batteries.
None of them would even take enough of a charge to crank.
It was a long cold walk down to the parts store...
They're all cheap junk these days.
IMO 18-20's are not needed. I like to stick to 14-16's.
I've found on other vehicles changing to a smaller size gives me more reliable and clear sight.
Larger blades tend to skip/freeze up/streak/smear and it's always that small area right in your line of...
Finally back on the road.
I used a couple pieces of angle alluminum to mount the 4770 up higher, using the factory bracket. Putting the top about level with the top of the factory bracket gives me plenty of room for the 3005 filter.
The racor filters won't work with the 4770. They are the...
That burgundy is way to light. It looks like it would match exactly the color my '78 had bordering the plaid interior.
I've seen it referred to as "Bronze Metallic" as well as "Light Bronze Poly"
Perhaps it's a regional thing, but around here the truck pumps have external filters.
I always use the truck pumps when I can. Diesel isn't very common around here in personal vehicles. IMO you'll get cleaner fuel from a station that moves a lot of fuel, over a station that stores it for long...
When I rewired the headlights on mine, I had that exact same ground dangling down there loose with no indication of where it should have been fastened.
Now I'm wondering how many 1009's are out there with that ground not connected.
I'm thinking maybe one of the changes (perhaps blackout lights)...
Well this has really become a pain.
After a serious struggle to get the new hoses on, even using a heat gun to warm them up because they would freeze stiff before I could get them in place, I'm just dumping fuel all over the driveway.
The racor 445 took several tries to get the gaskets to...
If the blades were evenly spaced they would "chop" like .. well a "chopper".
They are not specific to CUCV's. All full size fans are made like that, since well like the 50's.
Now they wouldn't go and redesign an entirely new type of fan blade for these trucks just because they're already loud...
I could be wrong, but isn't your vent on the wrong port?
I just had to replace my radiator (rock through it).
Everything went great, oil/trans lines mated right up and no leaks.
Went ahead and swapped in some new GP's while I was at it, everything still great.
Then I decided the fuel filter...
Mine's doing the same thing.
Only after sitting the same 8-10 hours like you describe.
It doesn't do it if the fuel tank is full.
She'll fire right up, then after a few seconds die. Then won't refire until after a good deal of cranking.
It's obviously a fuel issue. Check valve/draining back to...
The proportioning valve reduces pressure to the rear brakes.
Without it your rear end would lock up all the time, as your front brakes have most of the weight and do most of the work.
I'm not familiar with the specific design used in these, though I'm sure it's in the TM's.
Some need to be...
Yes, he's using one relay for both highbeams, one relay for both lowbeams, the third relay he's using to continue powering the low beams when the high beams are switched on.
That's why there are three in that diagram.
It's been mentioned that running both high/low at the same time may be...
If you're just running the stock headlights then you shouldn't have any issues with the plugs melting.
I replaced mine with ceramic plugs and all new, larger gauge, wiring on the power and ground. The stock wiring on mine now only engages the relays.
I changed out the stock sealed beams for a...
Indeed, I need to replace my passenger door weather seal. I've been getting complaints of a draft.
I notice mine doesn't get very warm if I leave it sit. Warms up best a little above idle if I get out and let it idle again it will cool down some, I think that's common with old diesels though...
So far this year -10 has been the coldest.
She sat for three days prior, and I don't use any type of heater.
Manual GP, 10 seconds on - 10 seconds off - 10 seconds on, and she fired up just fine.
Let her warm up for a good 10-15 minutes and was still getting ice cold air through the defroster...
Isn't there a vent hole on the back of the block inside the bell-housing area for the crankcase? (which would drain out the flywheel cover)
I seem to recall in manual trans conversions you have to install a tube and re-route that to avoid oiling the clutch.
Could it simply be the incline dumping...
Do me a favor?
Send some of it up here?
We got almost 2" on Christmas eve.
That's it so far this winter.
What's the use of being so cold if you don't get to play in the snow.
