    MEP-805a reconfigure to single phase

3 phase Y The problem is, in a standard generator the neutral is bonded, and there is no voltage from neutral to earth ground. On a 3 phase Y, unless the phases are perfectly balanced, which they won't be since he is pulling 2 of the 3 phases, there will be voltage from the neutral to earth...

    MEP-805a reconfigure to single phase

Mep-805a It depends on how the 220V AC units are wired, some units require a neutral to run properly and a 3 phase has no true neutral. running the AC units on 208 will shorten their life, the compressor is designed for 240V. You can turn the voltage of the unit up a little, just make sure...

MEP-003A odd problem with voltage and override

So the generator starts fine, as you hold the know in the override position waiting for the oil pressure to come up, voltage and frequency come up just fine, as soon as you release the override knob and it jumps to run position, the voltage is gone, no output at all from generator, engine still...

Thank you to those that replied, got what I need.

    MEP-802a/803a Fuel Filter canister replacement

Does anyone know of a good replacement for the MEP-802a secondary fuel filter canister (not just the filter, I need the whole unit) I have tried a 1/4 20 base, and it seems that the banjo threads are metric, not American threads, we tried to match them up to a common metric size, but can't find...

    MEP-803a Fuel and oil filters

85285-F is the NSN listed for the spin on fuel/water separator filter 186-6025 is the NSN listed for the spin on Oil filter Looking for the Wix or Napa numbers to match up to these.

    MEP-803a Fuel and oil filters

Anyone know the cross reference numbers for the 803a set? cant seem to verify if they are the same as the 802a, just need the spin on oil and fuel filter/seperator, were going to bypass the canister (stage 2) fuel, as they are all missing on the 4 units we just got in, good old boys were kind...

Mep 002A and mep 802A comparison

In the last 3 lots of MEP-002 and 003a units we purchased, which had been sitting for 2-3 years after being rebuilt by letter kenny, out of 30 generators, about 50% of them had a broken piece in the pump, its a manufacturer defect, if it sits the fuel gelling causes a small retaining spring on...

    MEP-805a floating or bouncing voltage

I have an MEP-805a, runs perfect, rpm doesen't vary much so it will hold at 60hz within .02, voltage will output a perfect 120/208, however it will drop or spike for a quick second every once and a while, its happens so quickly the voltage meter only moves slightly, I put on a volt meter with...

Mep 002A and mep 802A comparison

802A is much better for parts availability, the fuel pump on the 002a is no longer made, and expensive to get parts for, most times it has to go to a machine shop for rebuild, its prone to failure, and most ones that have been sitting have broken parts in that pump that can't be replaced easily.

    MEP-805a reconfigure to single phase

this question is all over the forums, yet never answered.... I have a 3 phase MEP-805a, what I want to know is, are there any differences in the single phase conversion from an mep-005a? there is a great youtube video on how to convert the 004 and 005a, which I have done in the past, but is...

    MEP-802a not charging

Actually I changed the voltage regulator for a new one, still no go, tested the coils in the regulator and they had about 10-12ohms resistance, not sure why the new regulator didn't make it work, but i went and bought a new alternator al together and its fine now.... your guess is as good as...

M923 question on coolant filter, should I have one?

Thanks guys... I was planning on flushing the coolant anyway, so I'll change it over to an ELC

M923 question on coolant filter, should I have one?

My 85 M923 with NHC250 does not appear to have a coolant filter, what I thought was one on the right side of the engine, I now believe is the transmission filter just above the transmission cooler. The engine was replaced in 2010 with a new cummins NHC250. It has been mentioned to me by a...

    MEP-802a not charging

thanks guys... I'll check those things and see where I make out... I think the ground may be a culprit and like that idea, of the units we sold we have 2 that don't charge, one we tried replacing the alternator in, and the other is unmolested, so I don't suspect miswiring as much as faulty...

    MEP-802a not charging

the meter is reading a slight discharge while running, and when the generator runs for a while the batteries are drawn down. I have all the TM's but can't find anything that mentions a voltage regulator, The 002 and 003 series used to have one mounted behind the fan housing, but those...

    MEP-802a not charging

I am aware its too low, I just don't know what's causing it. Like I said, this is the second alternator, fuse is not blown (and yes, I'm checking the correct one, the 30A fuse below the 7.5A breaker) belt is good, alternator is spinning, and no wires are loose, I'm wondering if there is...

    MEP-802a not charging

I have an MEP-802a that is not charging the batteries. voltage when running reads 24.4, fuse is fine, even changed out the alternator from another unit, same result. is there anything else in the charging circuit? any adjustments etc? I suppose I could have 2 bad alternators, but that seems...

    MEP-802a tripping Overload

The electric heat fan is 240V only, its basically just a big resistor, there is no neutral, 2 pole only. On a true 240V system, if you read 17.5A on one leg, you will have the same on the other, and your total is 17.5A load not 35A, current flows from one pole to another. the gen set is rated...
