Calling on all Michigan Historic Military Vehicle Owners

Only reasoning I can see to excluding from August "open" usage might be the disdain frequently expressed by some "classic car" and "hot rod" folks toward the collectible military vehicles at events. Have experienced it a bunch myself and would not be surprised if it had roots in that mindset...

    MK48 wheels

As a side note - have you ever looked at the back end of our 6x6's or maybe a dual axle trailer immediately after or during a turn - the tires are all torqued out of shape and sliding. I am amazed that my trailer tires have not ripped off at times (kudos to our tire manufacturers)! Now...

    MK48 wheels

I have contemplated the reasoning for the differences between these two applications since before 1995 when a few of the LVS's were for sale. Now that I have one and have crawled underneath them.....my thoughts are that essentially the axles are the same and my gut tells me that originally the...

Warner Robins, GA to Southern Michigan - One Pallet of Aluminum Boxes

Looking to see if anyone is heading from Warner Robins, GA area going up to southern Michigan. This would be for a Government Liquidation lot which would need to be picked up within the standard 2 weeks (by 5/27/2016) and either brought or have shipping arranged to southern Michigan...

Sway solution for M1070 that was converted to haul not pull

I'm not a "heavy mechanic or engineer" but do the heavy trucks with air rear suspensions use any type of sway bars? Can't imagine that it is as simple as a shock-absorber upgrade as that would only dampen the sway, not eliminate it.

1957 M62 Wrecker New Owner, Engine Swap and Mech Q

Hey painter paul - The M1070 HET did and still does use a "pony winch" to drag out the 1" rear winch cables. A good idea for any "heavy" winches. Might be able to find one off of a HET that someone has made into a camper or grain hauler!

Rusty Primer and Behr Paint over existing paint.. to use or not to use?

We did the Behr Exterior Latex (383 equiv color) over both blasted clean metal (bed, crane, frame, rims) on the HMTT (HEMTT Prototype) with the Rustoleum Primer, and then the same Behr over the CARC Paint on the aluminum Kenworth cab (no need to take it down, nor did I want to get into priming...

Hey there Brian, what kind of "race stuff" do you get into at your shop? Curious minds need to know - you never know what I might decide to do with my '70 caddy!

New to me M1075 and M1074 PLS

We have one of the M1074 PLS's and one of the M1076 Trailers. My understanding is that basically the original PLS family consisted of the M1074 (with Material Handling Crane and Self Recovery Winch - used more for "front line" operations), the M1075 (without either of the previous - used more...

Not this week, but we did use our HEMTT M985 to raise the trusses on a barn that I/We built for my wife and her mom for their gardening barn.

Hemit thinking about getting one need info

Paid a little bit more than the going average for mine a few years ago because it was exactly the model that I wanted and it was only an hour from home (no shipping to speak of). I have played with a number of these types of vehicles and the only general advise that I can offer, now that we...
