    Trouble starting in warmer weather....

I have this issue: If I drive my truck for a while, then make a pit-stop somewhere, say for about 20 minutes, then try to start again (when the glow plugs don't fire up), it gives me trouble. It's worse when the outside temp is 35 or up. I have installed the push-button (which works) but it...

    Question about starting my M1009

Warthog, just read up on that. I'm clear that I take the blue wire from the controller and wire to switch. The other line I run to ground...where exactly would that be? I'm not the savviest dude on the electrical system.

    Question about starting my M1009

Actually Barrman, that makes total sense. I've never had an issue first thing in the morning, or leaving work, but when I drive 5-10 miles, go into the store for 20 minutes, it gives me issues. A couple of times it didn't fire up my first try, but did on the second. It's been unseasonably warm...

    Question about starting my M1009

Gar! I was hoping no one said anything about a starter! Mine was rebuilt within the last two years, right before I purchased it. Could it be ready to be switched out again? And what is the difference between having it rebuilt and replaced?

    Question about starting my M1009

I will try that, but what does pouring water over the IP do to indicate that the solenoid is bad?

    Question about starting my M1009

When I start my M1009, sometimes the engine hsa to turn over several times before it fires up. Usually, we're talking in a range of 2-3 seconds. Sometimes though, it can be 5-6 seconds. Weird thing is, when I first start the truck in the morning, It will fire right up. But if I go to the grocery...

    Vehicle slowly coming along....

Hmm, I didn't realize that grown men talked about zombie apocalypses. I'm planning more for the inevitable breakdown of the social infrastructure due to economic collapse and civil unrest, but i get your point! lol

    Vehicle slowly coming along....

Ridgeback, that's an excellent idea, an one I hadn't even thought of in my haste to get an old-school carrier. I'm checking them out now. Thanks!

    Vehicle slowly coming along....

Well, I checked the rules and I must've missed where it talked about bug-out stuff. Clearly you wouldn't mention it if I hadn't broken some type of rule. Sorry about that. I have to ask...what in the world is a "zombie" post?

    Vehicle slowly coming along....

Well, Alaska is divided into three parts: the cities, such as Anchorage, which comprise about .01% of Alaska, the smaller satellite towns, like Chugiak, where I live, that makes up about 1% of Alaska. Then you have the wilderness, which - if my math is correct - constitutes 98.99% of Alaska...

thinking about doing black white and grey camo

I think that looks pretty cool! I recently rattle-canned my truck and I like having the ability to switch up how the truck looks anytime I feel like it. There's a very cammo-pattern way that snow sits on the spruces of here in alaska, like a really crazy mix of greens, blacks and whites. I'm...

    Vehicle slowly coming along....

Just wrapped up my tint work and putting a mat down on my floorboard. Piece by piece this is becoming an acceptable CUCV. Anyone got any cool ideas/ mods for the inside? I'm dying to get my hands on a swing-away tire carrier and I'm about to purchase a new hitch.

    M1009 as daughters first car?

My two cents, if she's the kind of girl that won't mind getting her hands dirty, it's a great truck in which to learn how to maintain and service a vehicle. Plus, it won't go very fast. In the case of mid-speed accidents or fender-benders, it is good because it's pretty much a steel box. On...

    Rust and Tire Carriers

Yes it does! I don't know how to weld so I'd need to take it to a body shop and probably get the stamped panels. Do you have a ballpark idea of what the cost would be if I replaced the floor panel from the pedals to just behind the seat? Thanks for the info!

    Rust and Tire Carriers

Currently personalizing my M1009 (new paint job, tint, go to **** bags etc) and am taking inventory of things I need to fix in the long-term. One is rust on the floor board. There's a few spots where it's eaten through and a patch where it's still on the surface. Given it's on the floorboard, in...

    Glow-Plugs

Resolution! (at last!) Last problem was an air-bubble in my injection pump. Big thanks to everyone - especially Doghead and Rlltide12 - for helping me out. I figure that after these last two days, I should be problem-free for a while! Felt good to get my baby back on the road!

    Glow-Plugs

Found pump, traced wires as best I could. Didn't see anything unusual. No deisel on the ground in that area

    Glow-Plugs

Checking that out is next on my list. I put some diesel 911 in the tank and then filled the filter with a 50/50 mix of diesel and diesel 911. Same thing. Turns over like a champ, but no starting.
