M916 5th wheel and frame mods

I finally found a nice M916. I want to use it to pull a dump trailer and a lowboy. The 5th wheel height was too high, so i got a 2.5 " kingpin 7" overall height sliding setup. I removed the roller and made some ramps. The hydraulics on the truck will run my trailers so I had a wetline valve...

m916 m920 jake brake 7155 cat trans whine

I just bought my first M916... With a cat 7155 trans. Nice truck. I'm going to use it under a lowboy and a dump trailer. But first i have to work out some bugs. The wires from the jake brake pedal run into the 7155 trans. Can I bypass that (wire it like a civvy manual trans truck) or is it...

5 ton super single rim studs

Does anyone know where i can get the studs that hold the super single rim halves together. This rim is an older rim with the smaller diameter studs. I'd like as much info on the 2 stud sizes as possible. I took a bunch of these rims apart and found what looks to be at least 3 different o...

    Fuel gauge problems

I understand the fuel gauges in these trucks are a problem. Has anyone found a way to treat or clean the sender so it actually gives a decent reading. Does anybody have an opinion if this is a crud problem( some GM cars need an additive to keep the senders working ) or a bad rheostat on the...

M939 transfer case air lines installed wrong

3 out of 5 m939 trucks i bought have the air lines to the t-case routed to the wrong place. 2 out of the 3 were that way right from the military. 2 of them had the air lines fom the low range shifter linkage valve( the valve that engages awd when you engage low range) going to the t-case...

    m939 fan clutch actuator

The engine fans on my m939 trucks seem to be erratic. Sometimes they come on and go off pretty quickly. Other times they stay on for a long time, even with the temp below where it should shut off. On one truck if the fan comes on it wont go off untill i turn the truck off and leave it sit for a...

    m932a2 w/cargo bed

Heres some pics of my m932a2 with a 11 ft cargo bed. Its just about the same lenth as my m35a3. Ive got a 24v hoist on the way. We didnt cut out the middle of the bed , we cut the end off and rewelded it. Ive been wanting to do this for years. Ive got 16.00's for it but i think it looks ok...

    m939 air system check valve

My M932a2 was doing funny things. The air compressor was cycling ,the safety blow off valve on top of the air dryer was popping off with only 100-120lbs of air. I started at the dryer and was going through everything when i came across a check valve inbetween the dryer and the first air tank. It...

    m932a2 maiden voyage

:grin:After a bunch of fixin, it was time for a shakedown trip. Pulled ok for a little motor, no mixing of fluids (WHEW!!!!). Trans seems to shift ok. I need to address more issues. The air ride is nice. I was able to get the 5th wheel height lower by trimming the rods to the leveling valves.
