If you use the Medium tow bar its not to bad, they are not as heavy, but the heavy tow bar, ouch, its about 5 feet off the ground. bad design if you ask me.

The thing is, we don't want to spend money on something we cant take home with us. We just saw it, and figured we would try to get it running, so we don't have to walk.

A buddy of mine found this 5-Ton in the Scrap Yard, He replace the starter, now runs like a champ. Its just hard getting parts for it since the Army is taking these out of the system.

I use to operate a M816 when i was in the Army, but im going by memory on this. The 2 adjustable "screw out" legs on either side of the vehicle are called the outriggers, it stablizes the vehicle when you are lifting a load from the side, since the crane rotates. The boomjacks or "A Frame"...

I don't know why they left it out initially, but for the new HMMWV's (M1114,M1151,M1152,M1165) they all have the parking gear.

I prefer the TM's in PDF format, don't have much room to store 250 gb of paper manuals.
