Smoke from GP Relay swap. Will not cycle...

After reading some of the related posts on this, I thought I'd post my error... During replacement of my relay switch, I failed to disconnect my batteries prior to removal of the old switch. Voila! smoke. I installed the new GP switch and now it doesn't cycle, click, nothing. No 'wait' light...

My CUCV is running just fine thank you!

I thought I'd start a thread to talk about how reliable your rig has been for you. Seems like alot of break-down and mechanical/electrical issues to read here but nothing about how well these things perform when all is working fine. Aside from a few bushings to replace in the near future, my...

A few pics from lastnight's snow job

A couple friends and I planned to climb the 'Red Pillar' mountain in Strathcona Park, on Vancouver Island, B.C. lastnight. Plan was to drive into the park to the lakehead at Deep Lake then canoe to the trailhead(more like a route) then climb The Red Pillar. Well, the snow proved too deep and we...

Any CUCV parts supply in Canada???

I'm looking for some CUCV bits and 9/10 times I can't get someone to ship from south of the border. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a parts supply in Canada? Anywhere? I'm located on Vancouver Island, about as far west as you can get without getting wet. I'm searching for a good grill guard...

    4 wheel steering on a 5 ton???

I went and had a look at two M812A1's the other day and between the two, one could build a nice truck. Anyway, considering that one would have access to two front ends, I thought four wheel steering would be an interesting adaptation to a bobbed 5 ton, 16.00 x 20R's etc... Has anyone here done...

Looking for antenna bracket guards for CUCV

I had a wanted ad in the classifieds for awhile but no dice so I thought I'd take a more direct approach. I'd like to get three more antenna bracket guards for my M1009. Nothing but brush around here and I already had one bracket get snagged. If you have or know of where I could get some, it...

CUCV's in the new 'A-Team' movie.

The new A-Team flick is being filmed in town here and it'll have alot of green iron in it apparently. I went to check on a few parts yesterday at I.M.S. (International Movie Services) and a number of vehicles were being prepared to be shipped out to the film set, so when it hits theatres, keep...

A few pics of my M1009 with camo netting

It thought this would be a good summertime top for my truck. Works well, even at highway speeds, stays cool in the day too with the heat we've been having up here.

    M135 or M211 bob-job's? Anyone?

I'm wondering if this has been done and if so, I'd like to know more. Did a lil' photochopping and this has got me all thinking of doing a modified early deuce. I found a good candidate for a bob and chop and powertrain swap so I'd like to hear any of your thoughts. Thanks. *ahem* yeah, I...

Finally solved my starter bolt woes...

Well after numerous broken bolts I finally realized what was the problem and now my truck runs like new. At first, I had no torque strap on the front of the starter connecting to the block so I modified a 12v. 6.2l one and installed it. Everything was fine...for a while. Then I broke another...

Pic of my custom snorkel on my M1009

Just the one pic today and crappy at that but more to come. I welded this together with 3" O.D. muffler tube, a wet exhaust coupler from Trident and a John Deere Prefilter. Mounted with the same threaded rivets to accept a 5/16 bolt. Works great:smile:

    Portal axle pricing info: FYI

So, I'm embarking on doing a frame-off resto and mods to my M1009 and I'm looking to do something no-one(at least that I know of) has done and that is give my rig the capabilities of a unimog. I've picked up a Dana 60 front-end and a 14 bolt rear and with a help of a friend, we're rebuilding...

AxleTech's New Dana 60 Portal Axles

I saw these in a jeep mag and checked them out. These would be killer on a CUCV. Apparently, the price point for four corners of the vehicle will be about $8000-USD......but damn! I want them! http://www.axletech.com/downloads/ATI_MotorsportBro_100308.pdf

    CV eating CUCV

My M1009 is going through cv's in my rear drive shaft rediculously fast. I replaced both the upper and lower(rear) cv last week, installed by my mechanic, and now I've blown the top one with virtually no warning. Before I replace them with a high-end part, is this something that any of you...
