did you drop the pan and change the filter? you may just have a leak at the pan gasket. hard to tell from the picture. but when I changed my filter the first time I ended up with a leak so had to do it all again.

    Push button light switch

My truck came with it installed. Looks like a good install, it is very easy to use, and I have had no issues after a year of ownership and about 1k miles. I don't think twice about keeping it. Irrespective of the negative press and unrelated to having the switch, I do have the driver seat fire...

HMMWV M998 Battery Cutoff Switch wire route / location

Possibly. I haven't touched the batteries (other than setting up the cut off) so this is just how they came when I got the truck about a year ago. Is it worth doing anything about since it hasn't caused any issue?

HMMWV M998 Battery Cutoff Switch wire route / location

For the remote switch, I wired it to the fuel gauge I believe. It has been a while, but I have had no issues and everything works great. Not sure why my battery likes to leak though :o

    antenna question?

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have a similar question. I have a spare AS3900a and am wondering if I can use it with the r442 for receiving only? I have the AB-15 and one 6707, but would prefer them to at least look somewhat similar. Perhaps I might swap the 3900 with another 6707...

    What makes a VIC-1

For power, if you are connecting the amplifier to the MT-1029, is in unnecessary and/or harmful to also connect a power via J-501? There is an empty power out on the MT-1898 I have for the R-442 and am trying to get the cabling set up correctly. Also, I see the manuals using the top ports on...

    Don't know were to start

I apologize for the non-helpful answers some have posted... Getting licensed is not difficult. You can get the basics by using a search engine for ARRL. The most cost effective would be the RT-524. I went went what is referred to as the AN/VRC-47 with a VIC-1 intercom system. There are a lot...

    What makes a VIC-1

Thanks for the responses. I already have a VIC-1 which I wish to use, but was just trying to understand the difference any why it is said that the VIC-1 allows two as compared to the VIC-4, and what are the different crew stations and which ones should I use?

    What makes a VIC-1

Can someone explain this? "Been working with the VIC-4 intercom system. This is like the VIC-1, except it controls 4 tranceivers where the VIC-1 controls two tranceivers and one receiver." I see mention people having six crew boxes with the VIC-1. I know there are different crew boxes for the...

    HMMWV paint selection

thank you for the replies, I was just going to use it to paint the x-doors to match the original CARC.. I am sure it wont be a great match, but the rapco I used for the other colors seemed to blend pretty well. I will check out walmart and other hardware stores and see what looks like it may...

    HMMWV paint selection

Hi Guys, sorry to resurrect the thread, but I am trying to figure out which black to use for touch up (actually I need to paint a tan X-door to the camo pattern). I already have the green and brown spray cans from Rapco which I use, but I forgot to order black. Looking at their website, they...

    PA System

I tried searching and could not find anything significant. Does anyone have any information on the possibility of using the RT-524 or VIC-3 with an externally mounted loud speaker/PA system? Thanks in advance.

    Humvee Radio

Affirmative, working. I will try murphy's, I guess I am no sure what to ask for. It looks like a VIC-3 will be part of that, but it is all the details I am missing. Like which shelving to get, which cables (how many and how long), etc... Thank you so far for the help

    Humvee Radio

Does anyone know of a source for radio equipment other than e-crap? In a perfect would I would like to buy a kit with all wiring and radio setup without having to pat everything together. I already have a AS-3900A/VRC antenna (just one, I need the second). If anyone can help me it would be...

    HMMWV Half Shafts

So I tried installing a new boot on my front left half shaft and decided I was not comfortable rebuilding it myself. I keep seeing mention of different types of shafts, but how do I know which one to buy as a replacement or how to tell the difference. I see plenty for sale on auction site, but...

    adding electrical items for dummies

Seems very similar to what I have, but regardless, I already have it so I am going to give it a try. I really got it for security as it has a manual cut off switch that I can disable the batteries when I leave the car and turn it back on with a button.

    adding electrical items for dummies

confused..... doghead: are you speaking to me? I didnt post this question in any other thread or are you saying I need to create a whole new thread for it?

How hard to change out CV boot

I have seen a bunch of threads indicating the different halfshafts, but no one mentioned how to tell the difference. I just got my HMMWV about a month or so ago, and all the boots were intact. I took it on a decent drive (about 30 miles) and when I went to go home I noticed the driver outer boot...
