with a chopped down stock bed, usa 6x6 double beadlocks and 53" michelins my truck weights just under 11k. Can't remember exactly, but i did put it on a scale once. In answer to your other question you can figure losing about 2k lbs in the bob job. what you add back as far as wheels and...
only problem I could think of would be keeping everything concentric. Also the m715 has a larger hub diameter than a 8 lug dana 60. So the center "hub Hole" would have to be addressed first, then the ring added, welded and kept true. Not impossible, but more work than i would want to put into...
it would certainly work. Keep in mind we did this just to see if it could be done. it would be muc heasier to weld in a new center into whatever wheel you wanted. getting a new wms certered properly, and balanced into the wheel would be difficult at best. We gave up on this idea, it did work...
I have read three articles so far of 3116's being swapped into different vehicles. A ford f-250, a chevy 2500 and a 60's ford half ton. All these vehicles are lighter duty and smaller under the hood than an m715. Size wise it is only slightly larger than a 6bt which is commonly swapped into...
Ok guys and girls, the die is cast it is official. I have just acquired a caterpillar 3116 with the allison 542 automatic to go into my blue m-715. It is the 260 hp version and has the overdrive allison behind it. Engine and trans will arrive here around my birthday on the 18th of the month...
well he is an idiot..........combustion engines run much better with fuel in them! We took the distributor apart 2 times, checked the gap on the points 5 times, stood around scratching nuts for 20 minutes. Then I asked the magic question " Dave does it have gas in it?" to which he replied " I...
Dave Roberts and I were at the yard in Campbell just last week. We probably saw your trailer there. We were up there to look at the m-35a3's and some generators. The shop truck they have listed on GL this month with the lift gate is extremely nice. They also have some 818's with very low...
light use is the most I will ever do. If I do any heavy lifting it will be stationary. Mostly for show and play. Occasionally go out to the junk yard and tear cars in half. that kinda thing. Snakeater
NNNAAAAAHHHHH..... just keep the throttle revved and she will come around. If that doesn't work put something shiny in the cab. Girls love shiny....Snakeater
About to acquire a new to me M-62 and was wondering what it would look like with super singles. If you have pics post them and let me know what you have done. Thanks in advance. Snakeater
holy crap that thing is awesome, looks beat up like paris hiltons snooch, but awesome. Have no idea what I would do with it, but it would be fun to go to the grocery store in. Snakeater
i think we had dicussed this at length before (on the augusta, ga. trip) . The concensus that we had was to add the axle in front of the existing axle and lengthen the frame. Use hydraulics for steering both axles and slave them together. i think it would work, but it would be a **** of a...
well In doint this to the wheels I wanted to see if it was possible. It is, however it is very time consuming on a standard mill and not really worth it for the time invested. With my buddy making wheel centers for basically the cost of the steel this design to use 15" steel wheels got...
I was really only considering a winch because my truck already has the bumper and pto, just the winch has been removed. Although I feel like if you have something as large as a bobbed deuce, it pays dividends to be able to self recover if need be. I never used the winch on my last deuce, but I...
