    Advance Adapters 50-9421?

I'm currently swapping out my M1028 drivetrain to the 12V 5.9 Cummins/Allison 1000/NP205 setup and am missing the adapter to properly mate the transfer case to the transmission. I have looked everywhere online and called Advance Adapters directly, and everyone is out of stock. Advance said the...

    M1028 Rear Axle Seal

This was the issue, thanks for the insight. Pulled the hose off of the fitting and it was completely caked solid with mud and grease. I never would have thought to check. -LB

    M1028 Rear Axle Seal

Quick question for those that have dealt with it: Do the rear axle shafts have an inner shaft seal at the differential? I've looked in the TMs and through this and other forums online but can't find an answer one way or the other. I'm currently trying to stop gear oil from trashing my rear...

    Question about M1028 Charging System

UPDATE: The battery I took to have charged still said to recharge it after the store charged it, even though it still tested as a good battery, so they swapped it out for me under warranty. I installed it and the truck started right up, GEN 2 light went out, GEN 1 light stayed on. @cucvrus...

    Question about M1028 Charging System

So the isolated ground alternator (passenger side) on my M1028 finally went out. Long story short, I was out in the middle of bad flooding when it happened (I'm guessing the water shorted it) and made it back home, so I expected the rear battery to be drained. I had the alt rebuilt and...

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

As far as I'm aware, there's no reason I couldn't use a 5 ton. The only reason I opted for the Deuce is that the average wheel base of a bobbed Duece is really close to the CUCV wheel base. It feels like I'd be wasting a lot of frame cutting down a 5 ton to fit, but it's not out as an option.

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

I have a M1028 and will be getting a Deuce in the near future once I get home and everything settles down. I've just been trying to hammer out the details of my plan so I can avoid most of the potential mistakes during the actual build.

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

71DeuceAK I plan on it being streetable, I've been looking into the local requirements involved. It'll probably see off-road as necessary but definitely not a mud truck. V8srfun I'll be using it for towing, hauling, driving, etc., just regular pickup stuff. It's going to be my "dream truck"...

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

I had considered that but I'd like to have the strength of the Deuce frame as well. I was planning on doing custom suspension to help with the ride quality as well.

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

I think that may come down to a matter of personal preference. I've seen pictures of swaps as you described and while the way they were done did not look the best, that had more to do with alignment issues and such rather than the main concept itself. Honestly, some of the pictures of swaps...

    Deuce/CUCV Combination

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this post should be here, but it's technially a Deuce Mod so... I currently have an '86 M1028 and plan on getting a M35A2 with the intent of putting the CUCV body on the Deuce frame/chassis. What I'm looking for is any insight that anyone may have to help ease...

    M1028 Gen 1 Light On

So just to close this one out, I got the issue fixed - it ended up being a bad alternator from Autozone. I did clean the contacts on the bulkhead connector which brought the voltage on my exciter wire from 11.9V to 12.4V, but the light was still on. I changed the alternator again this morning...

    M1028 Gen 1 Light On

What I mean by popping a battery is when you have an old battery, most likely with a bad cell, that overheats when you hook up a new alternator and pushes most of the water/acid out without swelling or exploding. The battery was old, so I honestly wasn't surprised. I have cleaned the contacts...

    M1028 Gen 1 Light On

I'm looking for some advice on the next step I should take troubleshooting a Gen 1 light that is staying on in my M1028. The light came on two days ago, so I followed the TM and ended up replacing the alternator. I used the Duralast alternator listed in the wiki. Light went off for about 6...

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

Yeah, and this truck is full of them. Helicoil threads drilled crooked for the starter bolts, water elbow mount bolt stuck behind the thermostat(yep, inside the cooling system), improperly torqued front hub nuts(1/4" axial play on driver's side), just to start. Slowly working through it though

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

Yeah, I got it figured out. Just got back in from adjusting it - couldn't do it yesterday because of weather. The bracket I was looking at was the one that should be floating free, and I didn't know it should be. Snipped the tie and it adjusted just fine. I thought it wasn't working because...

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

ehuppert, Sorry, but I'm not really sure what you're asking there. Thank you for the details though, I'll see if I can find those holes on the frame rail. I would greatly appreciate that picture if you have the time. -LB

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

porkysplace, Thanks for the response. That's the picture I tried to use, but couldn't find where the bracket was originally based off of that picture. -LB

    M1028 Parking Brake Bracket Location

I wanted to see if someone would be willing to post a picture of the parking brake adjustment bracket on the frame of their truck with a reference or measurement in the picture? My M1028 has the bracket held on with a zip-tie, so the parking brake is worthless, and I would like to make sure I...

6.2L Starter Bolt Hole Repair (Custom Inserts)

New to the site and I figured I would write this up since I couldn't find it posted it anywhere, but this is what I did when the holes for the starter bolts on my M1028 got beyond where a helicoil or standard insert would save them. Background (Feel free to skip, repair is below) I purchased...
