If the Chaplain's on the thread here and would be willing to start an "mkcoen fund" you can count on an ante from my corner, as long as that doesn't break any rules or anything.
I appreciate it AA but like I said, I like to pay my own way. There are many more that are in worse shape both physically and financially than I am. I'm blessed to have a couple of pieces of my hobby that, while I hate parting with, can help me stay afloat (that's a Goat joke in case you missed it). I was warned, however, that the wife's M37 isn't going any where so it's just my toys that are heading out. Barrman noted in a PM to me recently that I have a shelf life of about 2 years on my vehicles before I move on to another. I've had the deuce for 7 so that one kind of throws the average out but the point is still accurate. Since I bought the deuce I've had 4 CUCVs, a fake M151, numerous MKTs, a M923A2, and the Goat. That's just in the past 7 years :). I'll bounce back with a LMTV somewhere in the next 7 years and with some blessings from above this treatment will give me more strength and energy to work on it when it arrives.

Your big heart is acknowledged and appreciated.
As your offer has been declined, let it be known that we are ALWAYS on stand-by for anyone with needs of prayer, Benevolence Funding, and just good ol' brotherly friendship and moral (though sometimes immoral) support. ALL in the best interests of our comrades.
John

Hey guys I have a question regarding the camping. My wife, 18 year old son and I plan on attending the rally this year. I am new to the MV's and looking to learn so if ya'll don't mind questions about the rigs I sure would like to see your rigs and learn. So as I understand it the park opens Friday evening and we can show up around 6-ish pm. What do ya'll normally do at the park? Trail ride, bbq, adult beverages around the camp fire? Type 2 diabetes put stop on my adult beverage consumption but I can bring my share if preferred. Are the mosquitoes usually bad up in that area? Normally I use a tent cot, wife uses a zero gravity chair and my son can fall asleep on rock...crazy kid. So we are pretty much minimum gear types I guess. Don't take us much to get setup. Another question....I have a lifted electric cart, can I bring this to run around the park in? Its not a crazy offroad ride, just fun. We are debating coming in Friday PM or showing up daylight Saturday. I will be coming from Corpus Christi....not sure if that helps logistically for those trying to get parts to and from the meet? I can all ways leave the cart at home have the bed free on my f-250 for gear if someone needs. Just let me know
Thank you

Saltbranch-

Some of us will be at the park when it opens at 5pm Friday, April 1st. People will filter-in at all different times that evening. Some get there close to 5pm and some will show-up in the middle of the night.

Not much happens at the park Friday night. People set up camp, visit with friends they haven't seen in a year and meet new friends. We get up early Saturday and convoy to the museum and return to the park Saturday afternoon. Some people work on vehicles. Others trail ride. It is open to whatever you want to do. You will get a lot of time at the museum and park to see the trucks and ask questions.

Each person/family cooks their own dinner Saturday night. In my opinion, this rally is missing a group meal that other rallies have. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, bring what you want to cook and eat. We usually gather around the fire ring Saturday night to BS and swap stories. Sometimes there's a fire, sometimes there isn't. But there is always great company and a good time! Adult beverages are optional, but not required.

Mosquitoes have not been bad in the past couple of years. Some guys have really nice campers built in their MV shop vans or trailers. Some folks (me included) pitch a tent. Others sleep in their civy vehicles (SUVs and pick-up trucks).

I'll let Lincoln respond about the lifted electric cart.

If you get there Friday night, I'm sure folks with MVs will let you, your wife and son ride a long in the police escorted convoy to the Museum.

I just read the itinerary and it looks like lots of things to do. I really enjoy this show and this is one of the best. I have made the trip to this show three years in a row and last years UH1 rides were called off because of the high winds. Now I'm stuck between my two favorite hobbies MVP & Drag Racing (Spectator) on that same weekend aua. Looks like drag racing wins only because I will be spending time with my brothers :driver:who also enjoy drag racing so I guess my MVP brothers will have to plan on next year. To many things to do on the same day.

Can't wait to hit the road. I'm picking up Fuzzytoaster's M934 at Jeepsinker's place and towing my M1031 and M101A2 trailer behind it to the Rally. Spent today packing everything up and installing the tow bar on the CUCV and the tow lights on the trailer. The total length of the triple tow is 64.6 feet, which is just under the Texas limit of 65 feet. It's going to be 154 miles to Jeepsinker's place then about 227 miles to the Rally doing the triple tow moving just under 40,000 lbs. I'll have to leave about 4 hours before Jeepsinker so we can arrive at the same time. :driver:

I REALLY need some of Fuzzytoaster's LED taillights, LOL. I probably won't even notice the CUCV and trailer behind me until I try to back up or climb hills.:D

The route Trailboss is taking was traveled successfully by an M923A1 towing an M818 towing an m720 towing an m1101 so with some luck he wont have any trouble...or have to back up. rofl

Trailboss - I'll blaze the trail tomorrow and map out all of the gas stations for you! I can't imagine that train will get stellar mileage!

I got the M715 all checked out and loaded up. We swapped u-joints on RED a few minutes ago so Colton should be set for his 400 plus miles he will cover this weekend. I am all packed and Colton has a clean suit for the formal tomorrow night. Plus, the weather looks like it is going to be just about perfect. Let's do this thing.

I should get there around 1830-1900. Everyone drive safe.

Well, my plans changed at the last minute after having my engine almost runaway today (details here). I don't want to bring a Deuce to the rally when it is threatening to self-destruct!

I'm going to tinker with my truck tomorrow afternoon. I'll drive the POV and meet y'all at the Museum Saturday morning. Archmark's M105 will be in tow. I'll follow the convoy back to the Offroad Ranch Saturday afternoon and camp with the group Saturday night.

I've got the M101 loaded up with goodies, I'll be vending time to time at the museum but will be breaking off for a while to have fun at the ranch with the HEMTT and convoy back down to the museum. It should be funny to see the m977 towing an itty bitty m101. It's almost debatably easier to just lift the entire trailer into the bed instead of pulling it LOL!

I just got home from a conference. I took off work tomorrow. Not sure whether I'll see y'all tomorrow or Saturday. I'm bringing a different sort of MV.
