Who currently carries the kits? Either the basics ones in three sections or the fancy ones in canvas... I've inquired around and everyone seems to be out.

Thanks,
Allen

Either of these two would suit the bill (reproduced from other posts on SS). The basic kit is what I need for mobility and the fancy canvas kit would just be cool have.

Also, does anyone have the most current NSNs for either kit? I've seached at vendor sites and am coming up blank.

Let's push it here... does anyone have the correct hammer/extractor as well? NSN number?

Thanks,
Allen

One should be so lucky to have a set in new condition. The ground rod set that came with my generator had to be re-threaded, after the rods were straightened that is.
I do have the hammer, it's not for sale, but I can provide pictures and dimensions if needed.

Update: I do have NOS Slide Hammer sets ( NO GROUND RODS). See the classified section.

I have the slide hammer and misc stuff, but no ground rods or couplers. I was told i could get the ground rod and couplers at a electrical supply, but no luck yet.

Grainger carries a rod set. Part # 2KXN1

I'll post photos and dimensions of the hammer on Tuesday.

I dont think they screw together. You need to be able to disassemble and reuse the rods and connector's.
According to the Grainger web site there are two 5/8" x 4' rods, a connector, a ground clamp, and a drive sleeve.

The hammer dimensions are:

Height 5"
Diameter 4"
Center hole 5/8"
Handle length 6"
Handle dia 3/4"
Weight 20lbs

Flat disc on driving rod:

Diameter 2-1/2"
Thickness 3/4"
Center hole diameter 5/8"

Thread size on rods is 5/8-11

They dont screw together. When you pull them up, they might come apart.

So it looks like you would have to thread them, and make a threaded coupler.

While if I were purchasing these rods I would thread them together its just as easy to drill the coupling collar and rods and install a screw in each joint so that they stay together when you use the slide hammer to remove them from the ground.

That's the KISS engineer in me.

I see that now. Did some further checking and found that the manufacturer ERITECH, does make (bonded copper) threaded sectional rods. I did not see a kit listed although they may make one. Check them out: ERITECH® Copperbonded Ground Rods

Another fly in the soup is that the standard accessery box on the generator trailer is only 3' 4" long. So no 4' ground rods.:|
This ERITECH does make 3' threaded sectional rods. According to their price list they are reasonably priced, just have to find a distributor who stocks them.

I have several of these 3 piece kits still in the box. NSN 5975-00-878-3791. Complete with the wire, clamps, three sections of threaded rod, bronze couplers, drive bolt, and extraction disks. Anyone interested? I can post pics tomorrow.

I only have one slide hammer, sorry.
