That 30" snow got one of my mud flaps too. Just repaired it a couple days ago. Mine only has 3 bolts through the rubber, doesn't seem to bend the bracket as bad when I tear one off.
That was the best one I've ever done. Most of the time the bracket gets twisted or bent like a banana. That was my first 90 degree bend. You get better at it over time.

I wiped out 3 flaps in a week recently. the 4' rigid pipe wrench has been getting a workout. I just got these which will flex and also push the flaps back another 2" from the tires. View attachment 610160View attachment 610161
I got tired of the pigtails. Once they bend, you're done and also I believe, or at least my theory is, that the bouncing around that the pig tails allow contributes to the flaps getting caught up in the tires. So, I cut the pig tails off and bent the metal to reflect the 4" of depth the pigtails added. Tonight they get primed, this weekend they get paint and next week I'll mount them and post a picture.

DSCF6431.jpgDSCF6432.jpgDSCF6434.jpgDSCF6435.jpgDSCF6436.jpgDSCF6437.jpgDSCF6438.jpgI started off the day by replacing the injection pump on my Crown of Thorns M1009. Then I decided I needed to drive some of the over treated diesel fuel out of the tank. So there is nothing like a trip to Rausch Creek. We got there about an hour before sunset and it was very dead at the off road park. Not much activity. So I decided to do some flex on the ramp. I also included the rules of the park picture for your information. I had a full tank of semi contaminated fuel and during the cold week and big snow storm I was having problems with the truck running. I added a quart of 911 fuel additive and a qt of Howes fuel additive. And a helpful friend came and added a qt of straight power service and some other additive. At this point I think it has to much additives and want to get some straight diesel fuel into it. No more of the contaminated fuel. it was great while it lasted but I am not chancing it any more. I will probably take a trip up tomorrow also just for a road trip. It seems like the M1009 is getting a 100 MPG when i don't want it to. I hope you guys are getting your rigs ready. Good Luck and be safe.

I'm going to try and make it for the weekend. it's about a 6hr ride from MA. Are pallets acceptable for firewood? Some place might not like the nails. I can get a whole truckload of them. I'll be bringing the 931A21

fire.jpgI will bring my magnet and check all the wood. If I see any nails we will extinguish the fire immediately. LOL. I understand no skids. But some of the wood i have may have some nails in it. Not as many as a skid. Don't bring it? It is getting easier. I can just bring rubber mudflaps and HMMWV run flats.

I am thinking about coming up with my M1009. I ordered belts and glow plugs and need to do some maintenance on it. A trip might be the motivation I need to get the work done.

I had my M170 out this weekend and that is an option too.

Firewood

If the wood must be free of nails I am going to have to with draw my offer. I have lots of wood and it is good hardwood. But it has nails and I do not want to get in any trouble with nails in wood. Not worth it. So I will bow out on the wood. I will bring the mudflaps and the HMMWV mag run flat.
