tractors, tractors, and more tractors

I just love tractors but I would like to have some pictures, info and whatever is important for the tractors (aka differences between the different models). Why? Why not. Any info on conversions would be nice too. Thanks for the info.

You would be amazed how many tractor pics you can get off of GL alone , look in the 5 ton section here also . I've posted some of mine stock and with the 16X20's too .Most specs are available in the manual downloads .I'm looking at 2 more 5 ton tractors now ! Which one looks better ?

now thats a M52, correct? To be honest I personally like the origanal, but I'm a little bit of a purist not much but a little. Does anyboby have a list of all the 5 ton tractors ever fielded by the Army? Thanks for the help guys.

M52, M52A1, M52A2, M818, M931, M931A1, M931A2, XM757.

During WWII there were several five-ton tractors fielded, in both 4x4 and 6 X 4 versions, but it'd be tough for me to cough those up off the top of my head.

Don't so far as I know - but that doesn't mean such a thing doesn't exist. However, I did omit the M932, M932A1 and M932A2 winch-equipped trucks.

Don't forget the M246, M819 and M933 tractor/wreckers and the FMTV M1088 tractor. There is an 8x6 tractor in the M915 series (M920) but it is not a 5 ton.

My personal favorites are the Federal made COEs. The 5-6 ton 2DT and 4-5 ton 2DTs. I'd love the Corps of Engineer's truck.

Theyre still cool trucks. Has anybody ever done a 5 ton conversion? If so, does anybody have pics? Ive seen pics of deuce conversions but havent really heard anything about 5 tons.

Yea the M920 thats what I meant thanks M1075 for pointing that one out, but if it's not a 5 ton what is it classified as?

The M920 can be considered a 20 ton 8 x 6 - but as a line-haul truck it is normally classified as a 75,000 GVWR 8 x 6.

jeff yes it's 60 or 61 MPH I've been looking for a M916 to tow a low boy with a tank on it,
by the way for those who have tractors what do you like more a M52A1-A2 or the M818.

we did a conversion to a 5 ton M54A2, shortened it and removed one of the rear axles
