I put the air hose on top of the tire. It inflates by magic.
Wow that is amazing. Houdini.

That being said...... why the air hose on the tire and not the Quick disconnect you installed in the cab instead? Others have stated they can fill tires individually above the settings of the CTIS computer. Therefore it would sound like one can't "walk away" as you stated if up in the cab there is no effect created on whatever system is installed there.... when inflating just one tire alone. Thus it sounded illogical to put air hose on one tire when it could potentially get overinflated when "walked away"

While on the other hand putting air thru the QD at regulator installed in cab would then ensure to inflate the tire of concern (as well as all the tires) to the 50psi setting.

Thus the question of possibility that you may have mistyped?

My deuce and a half doesn't have CTIS. The under dash fitting is just a convenient source of compressed air. The regulator on that is just to regulate the pressure to a max of 50 psi.

Ahhh... ok...Thank you. Did not recognize that what was described is just a regulated air "out" port and not a modification to an existing CTIS system where one could send air into the system bypassing the computer formerly installed there. Makes more sense. Thank you for clarification.

Thus goes back to copying TJhuff's Manual inflate control system may be the way to go for bypassing a CTIS computer that is so Finiky.

I was at What-A-Burger. In and out before anyone could bother me (not that I think they would). Oh, and a lot of LEOs on here so, even though he was a wannabe cop, maybe a little more respectful to those in Blue.

We're doing an event at USAA Headquarters for their Employee Family Day on Saturday. I'm guessing we'll have an appreciative crowd there.

It's funny, because just from a marketing angle they might have drawn more sales traffic from curious shoppers pulling in to check out your rig.

But he's a security officer, and I'm a sales guy by background.

So that explains that.

Food was great but I restrained myself for the most part. Had a grilled chicken kabob and some corn on the cob (they dipped it in a vat of melted butter state fair style) and finished it off with a s'mores brownie. We had 4 trucks set up, mine a M35A2, a MB, and a M37. Lots of nice folks to talk to and a great spot in the shade.

So I got a replacement PCU for the CTIS hoping it would resolve my issues with the air dumping. I got it last week but didn't try swapping it out knowing that there's ALWAYS issues when you do something like this and I didn't want it down for the USAA event. Today I started on it and whaddaya know, there's ISSUES.

First off the transducers are different. My unit has a round 3 pin plug and the new one has an oblong 3 pin plug. Great, just swap them right? Wrong! The size of the threaded section are different. So a trip to Home Depot and I get a bushing from 1/4-1/8" and get it in. Now the whole thing is about an inch longer than it was before. Another difference with the transducer is that my unit had it on the bottom and the new one is on the top. Fortunately there was just enough, just enough, play in the wire that I was able to get it plugged in after reinstalling the PCU. Also the power plug for mine was on the right bottom of the unit and the new one is left bottom.

Now on to reattaching the air lines. But wait, there's more. Now I discover that the caps for the compression fittings are different sizes. Take the PCU back out, start swapping the fittings, reinstall it and discover that, yes the main in/out lines now work but the 3rd one is an oddball size. Back to Home Depot, but they don't have anything in the oddball size that will work. Back to the shop and start digging through all my extra fittings looking for something that would mate up to it. I couldn't find anything but then come up with the :doh: conclusion that I could just swap out the entire compression fitting as long as the PCU side of the elbow worked. I had one in my fittings box but there was no ferrel for the fitting. BACK to Home Depot to get one.

And the problem with the whole thing might be as simple as the last pic. I know it's hard to see but this is the last line that nothing fit on and in the section of the hose right at the ferrel is a sand-like substance about 1/16" thick blocking the tube. I'm not going to put the old one back in just to test that theory but it could have been the problem.

At this point I'm wiped out and will try reinstalling the unit tomorrow. I'm sure there'll be at least one more issue that has to be addressed before things are working. Nothing can ever be frickin' easy.

Those pesky "15-Minute One-Trip-To-The-Hardware-Store" projects:

- They tie you up for ten straight hours (if you're lucky), and so many trips to the Home Depot that they start greeting you by name.

I hear you, mkcoen. They're just NEVER any fun. But we've done them before. And likely we'll end up doing them again.

At some point the manual control starts looking better and better...... but then it would not function the way it was meant to be. I hope it works out soon for you!

You should come down and join in the fun! However, if this new unit doesn't do the trick the CTIS is staying unplugged. It's not that important to me as I rarely drive off road and if I do I can always air down manually. It's actually a little better that way as I normally run 70psi in my tires and you can't do that with the stock LMTV CTIS controller.

Do you see any mpg improvement at that pressure? Isn't that higher than standard highway setting on CTIS?
