Hi guys just a quick update. I have been out of the country for 10 days and arrived home after 1AM last night.

The display and convoy are still on. I am still the point of contact for the event. I am attaching my instructions as to when and where as I know they can be difficult to locate in this long thread. I arrived home to a flurry of emails, calls and texts from fellow scouter volunteers. This event is run by volunteers. Someone called and demanded answers and told a BSA employee to provide police escort to and from the event. Then the same person started contacting other scouters in the area for answers. Anyone that calls the Scout Store and wants updates causes confusion. My SS inbox was empty. I received no contact from any SS other than a text I received from SWISS(Thank you BTW Sir).

I do now have some scouter friends in LE that I am trying to work with on coordination of an escort to the convoy. AFTER I have confirmation that they can help I will pass their info on to the convoy coordinator.

If anyone has questions, comments or concerns you can message, email or call me. We all want to put the best foot forward for our hobby. I appreciate the excitement, enthusiasm and support that all parties have for this event.

OK the Scout Show update we’ve all been waiting for. I am attaching a map. The volunteer that is heading this up is doing this event for the first time and has been a bit overwhelmed. He is very excited about us being there and has a request that we come in from our staging area just inside Gate 3 of Gwinnett County Fair Grounds just after 9:30 AM to be part of opening ceremony before the event gates open. If everyone could be to that point by 9:15 we won’t have t worry about stragglers. The people who will be there are volunteers and overnight campers. After we parade in there will be flag raising. Coming in that morning there will not be allot of foot traffic. We drive straight in make 2 lefts and back in to grass area in a row along fence. The spaces he has allotted us are G-1 to G-8 he believes the spaces are either 20’ to 25’ across This is next to the main gate and EVERYONE coming into the event will see all of our trucks lined up. At 1PM when we fire up and roll out in the convoy it will be very east to rope off a safe area for the trucks to leave. We take a right turn off the grass and leave out of the same gate we entered Gate #3.

9 Days till FF night
10 more days till cookout - long time to hold back excitement to not pee in my pants to have some fun.

HEY - someone mentioned wanting to bring a guitar or whatever - I have no problem anyone sitting around jamming - I might even drag out the banjo. I already mentioned about that neighbor's band dropping out.

I did order up a porta john (handicapped one) so you folks hanging out in the power line do not have so far to walk - fella said he would bring a new one down.

I was holding off eating till 13:00 - are you saying the convoy is not leaving the fairgrounds till 13:00 ? - That puts folks that want or need to leave eating around 14:00 ?

Monday Carl, Tony and I are gonna start working on the camper and getting it loaded up with the stuff you requested: 6 tables, 15-20 folding chairs, drink coolers, large ice chest, stripper pole for your sisters, and anything else you can think of.

OFFICIAL NOTICE FROM THE HOME MAFIA COOKOUT DZ - please follow accordingly.

Cookout eat time is 13:00 - SHARP
vendors are coming to sell their wares and some coming a good deal away travel time - taking 4 hours out of their selling at the cookout is not acceptable.

This takes also 4 hours (it will turn into more trust me) out of their cookout visitation time - that is each individuals call but not acceptable to the head office.

Anyone wanting to take time in the convoy has NOTHING to do with the cookout = period - cookout going on's will take place with or without you.

Maybe just doing a BS/CS event may be the way to go next year - but to tie up all the folks coming to the cookout is not acceptable - but its each individuals call what they wish to do - but the cookout goes on with or without you - rain or shine - snow or cold.

All these details were asked for weeks ago - not a week before it takes place.

Knowing what that convoy time frame is - their might be a whole lot less trucks taking place in it - but its each individuals call.
Leaves all Mahala's nanner pudding to me :jumpin::jumpin:

I'm pretty sure the BS Convoy departure and arrival times were published and they haven't changed. I noticed the conflict of the proposed return convoy rollout time and chow time when it was first put out there. My suggestion would be this, so that full support can be maintained for the Boy Scouts, and provide minimal to no impact to the festivities and activities at Zout's; change the return convoy rollout to 1200 so we can all be back at Zout's by 1300. That provides about 2.5 to 3 hours on station at the fairgrounds instead of the 4 hours on the original plan.

Andy, does that still work for you? Otherwise, I can see the truck count dropping like a stone here and I for one, want to particiapte in both events.

I don't think Zout's is too far from the fair grounds. Could we split the difference? Change on departure to 12:15 startup and idle for 10 min. Parade out @ 12:25 (It will only take 5 min to parade out) basically departing for Zouts @ 12:30. Would this work?

I am showing 10.2 miles and 16+ minutes travel time from the fairgrounds to Zouts. With parking and all we need to say 30 minutes. It is tight but doable.

I agree with Swiss. It's doable. Just remember it's 10 miles through Gwinnett county and the parking at Zout's will be an operation in itself. We'll have to be rolling out at no later than 12:30 to make it work. No dallying around. I turn in to a diva when I'm hungry.

Its a cookout and helping do a run for the BS/CS thingy that is a separate thing that I have nothing to do with that others can decide to go on or not.

This does not have to get difficult as I am a laid back fella and try to keep it as simple as possible for folks - I do not want to leave a bad taste in anyone to deter them from coming again - period.

If I have some firm volunteers to help people park as they come and go and taking time when they also want to sit back and relax and visit is asking a lot. I need to make sure folks coming and going park where directed to keep all at peace in the SUBDIVISION I live in. Anyone not going on the run that has nothing to do with the cookout need to know that everything stays the same and chow time is chow time - munchy time is in between this time.

I will add MIKE volunteered a hand wash station at the porta john I am getting and I SALUTE you sir for volunteering this for the folks.

Deb and I only get this COOKOUT laid out - YOU are the folks that make the cookout happen. There is nothing I or Deb could do to make what you want to take place and fun you want to have take place - ITS ALL YOU FOLKS.
COOKOUT is for YOU and your family - time to bring your family to let them know how much fun this hobby has to give and the folks surrounding it.

Most important - get parts from the vendors coming so you are ready to go to parades - travel - camp or whatever this year in your MV - ending in a great time at the Georgia Rally with your MV in primo condition - that is what this cookout is about.

Anyone going on the run - just work it out amoungst yourselves - I just agreed as everyone was here anyhow and only 11 miles away and TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN GEORGIA TRAFFIC on a Saturday. Cookout is happening anyhow.

I bet the Fish Fry Friday night goes a lot smoother than Saturday - just think - you can watch it on SKYPE if you want to.

Some of the Southern CAMO Crew will be up early Friday afternoon.
Maybe I will have some "ZP" (Zout Police) arm bands made and we can assist in parking/vendor layout/crowd control or what ever needed and BabyBear can be the enforcer:rolleyes:.

I'm sure there will be enough folks from Friday night to help get things in order for Saturday and make things happen smoothly.
Who ever goes on the BS Convoy will be guided in when they return and if no chow is left we can make some hotdogs or sumpin!:papabear:

8 more days till FF Friday
9 more days till cookout.

At least the Col knows we Northern Camo folks were thinking about him.

I am taking that Friday off from work as well and will probably take a short trip about 4 miles up the road to the food market to get fresh fish instead of having anything a day old from the fridge - I learned this from MIKE by the way on Fresh Food - see I was paying attention Mike. He also is a great info help when the food is out on the tables and making sure non of you get food poisoning.

I am sure we can find someone that would be honored to say the blessing this year PB CAMO style.

I am getting very excited about Operation Boy Scout. I am sorry for any confusion my travels have caused for anyone. We have made an accommodation to the times that were set a couple of months ago. For those of you that choose to support the event thank you from the bottom of my heart. My intent was not to try to make a competing or excluding event, but to give the hobby a chance to have a positive showing and give back to the community.

Since it appears we will have a lower vehicle count and a portion of the group will be leaving early I will be staying at the Fairgrounds until the end of the event @ 4PM. Anyone that wants to stay feel free to message, email, or call me.

Date, time and location info.

Gwinnett County Fairgrounds address:
2405 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30045

Arrive by 9:15AM I would prefer everyone to be in spot by 9:00AM

For those leaving early to go to Zout’s Cookout we will fire up the trucks @ 12:15 and let them idle for 5 min. Parade out should take less than 5 min and you can be on your way. Have a great event, eat lots of BBQ meat and swap for some cool toys, parts, etc.

For those staying the event closes @ 4PM. I would expect for us to pull out around 4:15PM.
