Guys.., I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

I buy my surplus guberment tires at $200 clams apiece. Used 24 bolt rims cost 30 clams apiece. Runflats cost $15 apiece. Shipping adds another $75-100/tire. Anti friction snot adds another 100/tire

Price, offset, size, and ride quality are always on-par.

HummerH1 has done this same thing for over 300,000 miles. I’m not at 300k but I’m super happy.

I know some people want other rims, and I guess that’s ok for them. Me, I like the look/ease/simplicity/price of stock.

Sorry if I’m repeating myself.

Does anyone know where to get good deals on new or gently used hmmwv tires? My newly acquired m1123 blew out a side wall on its first out of town hwy trip and I made it to my destination thanks to the run flat. I’d just like 1-2 decent tires to replace that one and a full size spare would be nice. But I’d love to afford 38” or 40” tires on those stock rims one day

Reach out to Dustin at Feltz Tires, I'm replacing my dry rot originals right now. The guy is really knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Shipped them all quickly and they were in great condition (for old pull offs)

I confirm Dustin and his brother are exactly as described. Great guys.

Has anyone ever put a set of civilian steel 17" wheels on? They are $100 each and would probably look decent with some CARC black on them. A set of those plus BFGoodrich ATs in 37 x 12.5 comes to about 2200 total.

The backspacing is the issue, wheel for say a 3/4 ton chevy do not work well as the tire sticks out too much...

Method 105 beadlock wheels, 17x8.5 & Yokohama Geolander MT G003 37x12.5R17

Went with civilian wheels/tires because of the price of stock tire sizes. Even used tires have a big shipping cost - not everyone lives near suppliers. The offset isn't perfect but I won't be carrying much load most times when it matters and my experience with military vehicles are that they're over engineered.

Do you have a link to where you're buying these? Sorry if you have already posted it somewhere else. :)

I think we have someone in your neck of the woods that sell tires from time to time............... I haven't had enough coffee yet to remember who! BUT, I do remember he's north east of Dallas....... maybe............ but not Texarkana.............

"fuzzytoaster" is on this board and is around the F part of DFW. He may have what you need or can point you to a local supply...... My 2 cents.
I ended up finding some 17x9 steel rims that aren't too damn ugly at a reasonable price that have the load ratings I want and I'm getting them skinned with new rubber. I know I'm losing the run flats, but that's ok with me as It gives me many more options for tires. Thanks so much for your help though. :)

If those are civy (not hummer H1) rims they likely do not have the correct offset.

They have a -12 offset, which I'm to understand is within tolerance. These are the rims that I ordered and I understood that they would fit:

VISION® - 85 SOFT 8 Gloss Black (17" x 9", -12 Offset, 8x165.1 Bolt Pattern, 130.8mm Hub)

If that's not the case then I'm going to need to cancel my order...lol

Mogman is right: stock wheels are 8.25" wide and have a +54 offset.
With the wheels you just ordered the distance between outer (tire) sidewalls will be almost 6 inches more than stock.
