    M1008 Bumper tow rating

I was hoping someone on here would know the weight ratings. I have a friend who has a 86 3/4 ton chev with the step bumper and the 1008s bumper looks like a heavier built unit. He tows a tandem axle trailer loaded with a skidsteer all the time with a ball mounted in his and no trouble yet lol.

    M1008 Bumper tow rating

The heavy duty version from LMC is listed at 800lbs tongue weight. I think the general rule is the tongue weight is 10 to 15% of the tow rating. I'd ideally like to have the frame mount class 5 reciever but I don't want to lose the lift shackle brackets that are right in the way of course and...

    M1008 Bumper tow rating

Anybody here know how to tell the tow rating for the rear step bumper on a m1008 or any step bumper for that matter? Not looking for the pintle hitch tow rating I know where to find that in the TM's. Plus it sits to high for most trailers I would be towing if I put the combo ball/pintle set up...

    canadian looking for cucv

I did the same thing as tamecrowand no trouble getting across the border. I emailed US Customs after reading some of the info that was posted on here about the process. Their response was "as long as its been released from the armed forces and been assingned a title there would be no issue's"...

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

I can get the firestone airbag kit to my door for roughly $350. I don't think I can get a pallet shipped here for that and with my luck I'd end up with worn out springs. Plus with no load I can remove the air from the bags for a better ride quality. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

I'm scared to even guess at what shipping would be for a pair of those springs. I'm going to get some quotes for air bags on Monday and go from there. If I can get a pair of springs here for cheaper than the air bags then thats what I'll try to do. I was thinking that adding a couple hundred...

Thanks pigfoot63. I was wondering if they worked as good as they look. I'll have to order a set and try them out.

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

The dually set-up would be the ideal way to go. No argument from me on that one. It isn't that often I have that amount of wood to move and it would be nice to be able to set up the truck to carry it when needed every once in a while without hurting it or anybody else.

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

Thanks for the reply's so far. As far as tire ratings go I could be wrong but the way it was explained to me by a tire shop the "E" rated tires would be good for a vehicle weight of 12,168lbs with 4 tires (3042 x 4). Adding 1000lbs to my payload would put me at 9800lbs. drgreg thanks for the...

    Increasing payload capacity m1008

Hey guys. I have a m1008 that I use to haul green firewood. I work on the side with a tree care company and I'd like to be able to haul as much wood as possible from jobsites in one trip. I had a load of hardwood the other day that was almost level with the top of the cab (I'm sure I was way...

    Selling cucv outside USA exporting?

Thanks for the info tamecrow. I have exported other vehicles from the U.S with no troubles. Just wasn't sure with all the things you read about one being a ex-military vehicle. Now I just have to find someone with a good one to sell to me.

    Selling cucv outside USA exporting?

exporting a cucv I'm located in Canada and would love to own a m1008 or m1028. I got in contact with U.S customs and border protection about exporting one of these trucks. According to them as long as the truck has been released by DoD and has been assigned a clear title the normal rules apply...
