I am hearing from friends here in snow country, that the LED lights don't melt the snow off when driving in heavy snow. They have to keep getting out and cleaning the snow off the headlights!
I can tell you that the disc brakes and power steering probably cost at least $3 grand just for the conversion kits (depends when they were bought and which conversion kits) I did my M37 with front discs from Helitool and power steering from Snake River. It sure makes it easier to drive!
Thanks Storm51. My M37 lived in the Seattle area for years! Then moved it to Alaska, now to NE Oregon. I am afraid that pics of the outside won't show what I need to see. I did get the balls back between the upper and lower tracks, but I know I did not get it together correctly. On the track...
Spent quite a while searching the archives and don't find this info....
The plywood base of the drivers seat was completely rotted. I was able to get all the rusty carriage bolts out from around the edge of the plywood. When trying to get the nuts off of the studs that hold the slider tracks...
Yard Sale WWII?
Yard sale find today. Anyone interested, I can get a phone number. It is in NE Oregon about 100 miles SE of Walla Walla. They are asking $1500. Don't know if it runs but it looks complete.
I have worked on a lot of Detroit's. They tend to smoke when cold, especially if they have a few miles on them. It usually cleans up when they warm up. Try a block heater if you can. Plug it in for a couple of hours before start-up. It might keep the neighbors off your case.
More pictures of parts half tracks
I could not read the data plate on the green one (the one that ran last year) but one of the parts trucks had the data plate that said M2A1. I will try to attach another picture. I must be deranged, but it sure looks like a fun project!
I am looking at one running White(?) M2A1 half track with winch. It is rough but was running a year ago, drive train is complete. Rear armor is missing, windshield and a bunch of other stuff is "farmerized" . Owner also has a couple of parts M2A1's that have been stripped of a lot of parts...
I am looking for an original fuel pump with primer lever for my '53 M38A1. It can be a rebuild or a core. All I can find are civilian type replacement pumps. Please email me at dkwickre@frontier.com with info, pictures, price, etc.
Thanks
Doug
Looking forward to hosting how ever many can come! I know it is a long way, so am going to raffle off 25 gallons of diesel or gas to one lucky participant. In addition we will host a BBQ dinner BYOB. We will have a few acres for folks to camp and restrooms (or porto's) depending on number of...
While looking at the snowy peaks and the deer filling the low level fields, I am really looking forward to seeing a column of green vehicles in May! Happy New Year all.
