How did you bypass the temp sensor? Did you just connect the two wires together?

Some people have removed that sensor and plugged the hole with a bolt.

So what was wrong with it? What did the new mechanic do to get it running right?

Look into a tach called "Tiny tach" easy to install.

I found my problem. I removed the instrument cluster to clean the printed circuit and when reinstalling the #4 and #5 contacts were touching, causing the fuse to blow. All dash lights now working.
