Any chance someone could snap a pic of a M1008 for me, so I can see how it routes and where the attachment points are on the frame? I'd like to see if I am missing any attachment points. Thanks.
One the drivers side rear parking brake, when it comes out of the drum does it go outside then over the leaf springs or under then inside the leaf springs, before it goes through that first bracket that is mounted to the frame? This is for a M1008. Thanks.
I mounted a 12v winch to the front of the M1008. Now I need to figure out wiring. My M1008 is the original 24v system. Can I attach the positive and negative on the winch directly to one of the batteries? If so, should it be the front or rear batter?
Thanks. I'll start looking at those locations. As for the radio, I don't see much point in having one in my rig. It is so loud inside, I don't think I could ever hear a radio. Most of the weatherstriping is so shot, all I hear is a dozen different whistles when I'm driving.
Thanks guys. I got one for an '84 from Rock Auto. Decided to go with the AC Delco despite the higher price. I needed seatbelts as well and was shocked at how expensive they are. $90 per seatbelt was a lot higher than I thought they would be.
I'd like to add some additional gauges and not rely on just the idiot lights. I was thinking temp gauge, oil pressure and maybe a tach. Will the senders for the temp and oil pressure send actual data to a gauge or are they just good for the idiot lights? Will I need to install new temp and oil...
Howdy folks. Bought my first CUCV, a M1009, about 12 years ago. Always regretted selling it so I just picked up a M1008 this week. Taking some time to go through it and putting together a list of everything it needs. First on my list is the wiper motor. It is really slow and has almost no...
It was dead batteries. Very odd. The truck sits for about 10 months, but starts on the first try. I have been driving it a little for the last three weeks and it starts first try. Started first try in the morning. Drove the half mile and the batteries were 100% dead when I tried to start it...
The M1009 started right up this morning. Drive about half a mile down the mountain to a neighbor to pickup some lumber. Went to start the truck and I heard a loud buzzing kinda sound under the dash and then nothing. No lights, no starter, no radio. I have no electrical at all. Battery was just...
I am going to buy a ton of parts to start fixing up the M1009. I have the military parts manual and was wondering if there was an x-reference anywhere. I want to be able to find that parts I need using the part numbers in the parts manual. It seems like it would be the easiest way. TIA.
I lost most of the bolts that hold the top on my M1009. Anyone know what size bolts I need? I know the ones that connect to the front cab are larger than the bolts that connect to the bed. I am going into town tomorrow and can swing by Fastenal if I know the correct size. Thanks.
I think 18 to 20 is way to high. If the radiator cap pops at 15, then the correct pressure for the test would be below that. I am looking for leaks, but I am also looking to see if it holds pressure. I am also going to test to see if it builds pressure, IE headgasket issue.
So, anyone know...
I have an overheating issue. The radiator cap failed a pressure test, it will not hold at just below 15PSI. I want to pressure test the cooling system as well, to look for any leaks. What is the correct PSI to test the cooling system? I will also be replacing the thermostat and flushing the...
