What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Was hauling stuff for the Christmas fair in our village. During the day the transmission stopped shifting to 2nd and later all the lights went out. Spend a whopping $6 for a 30A fuse and some new rubber lines for the vacuum pump, turned out the lines where still original......

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Did the doghead relay mod and changed 7 of 8 glow plugs. Nr 8 is stuck and now its soaking in penetrating oil. I was afraid more would be stuck or swollen but all 7 came out easy. Once loose I could remove them by hand. The old plugs are AC Delco also but with a smaller connecter. I changed...

    Unknown broken bolt under M1008

Fixed. The support bracket is still on there, so is the original heat shield.. How do I tell the difference between a direct drive starter or a gear reduction starter?

Thanks all for the responses. I will have to mail order the bolts, most local shops have european stuff but no USA parts. (in my opinion we need more usa cars over here) If I get the bolts before the weekend I will fix everything then but tonight I will first check for the bracket, if its not...

    Unknown broken bolt under M1008

Did a quick check on the starter with a flashlight and there is indeed a bolt missing so that mystery is solved. Any hints on removing the leftover part? (Thanks Scoutdoors1000 for the hint, we posted at the same time) Patracy, what the relation with a possible broken block?
