My first buy on GL M1102

The tailgate comes off easily if you are looking to save some gas. I just retrieved mine and drove 700 miles testing various configurations and as expected topless without the tailgate got the best marks. As for tools, I found a mallet was handy when my trailer jack didn't crank down all the...

Chronicle of a tan M1101 trailer purchase from GovLiquidation.com

This has been a great thread guys. Thanks for the information and pics. I'll certainly leverage the lessons learned from your efforts when I go to pick up mine.

Attempting Recovery From Huntsville Alabama to Phoenix Arizona.

Good Luck Douflo - I did 850 miles when I got mine. Might not have been the smartest thing I've done in a while, but it was certainly one of the funnest (my wife might not agree though - she had to follow behind me at 45 miles an hour...). Travel safe...

    California Diesels | CARB Compliance

For you California owners - have any of you looked into what it would take to make your vehicles CARB compliant? I sent an email off to the CARB folks and they were actually quick to respond that Historical Vehicles are (currently) exempt. See following: Generally a historical vehicle is exempt...

Sheriff's Office wants to trade Demil Code Q6 5 ton

Agreed. If this rig got released to the State/County properly, I would expect GSA to want to step in and handle the release of the property to the public. If the SO can guarantee a SF97 then I might change my tune, but even then I'd expect the SF97 to come from a GSA property manager and they...

Need parts for PV 2 Harpoon

I read "The Last Flight of Bomber 31" last year and thought I remember them stating that there are no flying versions of this aircraft around today. Gonna make finding parts that much harder. Maybe an inquiry into Courtesy Aircraft will yield something. They primarily deal in flying versions...

    Bobbed Deuce Insurance

Did my deuce online with Progressive while en route to pick mine up. Had it insured in minutes and printed up the Proof of Insurance at my hotel. USAA was not so agreeable - couldn't get past the serial number... There is a very good thread on insurance if you look for the following: News...

Hello from a northern california new guy

Welcome, I'm kind of a FNG myself and this site has been really helpful - especially in getting the knowledge and confidence to run my newly acquired M35 down from WA state. If you see a fire truck red deuce on the road in NorCal, it could be me...

Registering Deuce in CA - US Fed Cert Label

Oh, and to clarify another point. The CHP officer was not at all concerned about how much smog came out of my pipes (no comments please) and was only concerned that the VIN on the Fed label match the VIN on my truck. I thought this was an effort to isolate offensive smoggers when it was really...

Registering Deuce in CA - US Fed Cert Label

Met with the CHP today. The officer was completely cool about the lack of Fed Cert Label - did a quick VIN check and passed it with flying colors. Went back to DMV with all the signed paperwork and the woman there was equally cool. She suggested a high probabiity that my paperwork could get...

Registering Deuce in CA - US Fed Cert Label

Mine's got a LDT 465 from '88. It has a sticker stating " This vehicle is exempt from the prohibitions of the Clean Air Act as amended for the purpose of National Security". I wish I had the sticker you referenced...I doubt I can convince the CHP it's still in it's National Security role...

Registering Deuce in CA - US Fed Cert Label

Thanks for the info so far. I did a search but came up with nothing on this specific topic (lots on DMV horror stories though, which is why I'm trying to be proactive on this). I appreciate the input - keep it up!
