Been useing "b100" that I make myself and have not had any fuel related problems (except for cold weather clouding) in 10+ years. unless you count an IP shaft seal failure at 200+k "fuel related" The first few tankfuls will be hard on filters due to the the detergent action of the bio.
Rear brakes on these trucks are "self energizing" meaning they apply a lot more force going forward than in reverse.A streched or bound parking brake cable can account for your trouble.
Us "po folk" use cardboard .Just be sure any cutouts for air flow are centered in front of the fan. Having one side of the fan blades catching air and not the other is a good way to turn it into projectiles.
The 218 military unit may work in early civy hummers but the 242s need to have the"speedo housing" portion of the case changed from gear driven speedo to electronic pickup type speedo.
I've got a few 218s that were boxed in 242 containers from GL .unit turn ins when the vehicles were upgraded to the 242s. However ,Ialso have scored several new unissued, 242s from the same locations.
The secret of 2wd in a hmmwv 242 is not the lack of a shift fork . Both needed forks are there. A "shift cam" change is required. I have several new GL units available. modified or not.
A good site to check for an IP and related electronics might be ssdieselsupply.com. all they deal with is 6.5s. I 've had good results the few times I've delt with them.
95 and earlier chevy nv 4500s have an external slave cylinder and different bellhousing bolt pattern than later units which have a hydraulic throwout bearing setup. 96 up units can be adapted to cummins by changing the input shaft and front bearing retainer.
The ol' 1008 burns real fuel ,veggie ,transformeroil, (no pcbs) alittle wmo & gas or a combo of any of the above. Some mixtures produce more power than others but the 6.2 doesen't seem to mind much. at 100K+ longevety does not seem to be compromised too much. Had more than that on my older truck...
I so ld a 1008 to a friend who put his teenage daughter in it. hated it at first but can't get her out of it now as she tells all the prettyboy trucks to put up or shut up !
Yours likely wont be the only one. if I spot it I'll park close it dosent get lonely. the heater works fine in the1028 and it's only a couple of hours down the road. maybe I'll get a table and try to unload some of these hummer t-cases and diffs I'm sitting on.
Like I told the DEP inspector when he asked why I have so much WVO and such laying around ? Most of my friends have arsenals, me not so much. When SHTF I'll trade energy for ammo. (don't think he saw the humor)
