Am located about 1 hr. west ofI81 I80 junction Iwill be in Jersey fishin' on fri &sat but if things go very wrong and you're in need of anything sunday ring me @570 637 3065 I have tools and an assortment of 2&1/2 stuff around . hopefully you will be way home by the time i get back to the area...
I have a m37 with a completely trashed body but the drivetrain, including the brakes are free and rolling. Be interested in buying some of your extrs sheetmetal or selling this chassis for your project.
I'm kindain the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania.(one traffic light in the entire county) Six wheels are more than I need for most purposes but I just sold my only running 1008 so I'll be using it for awhile. as soon as I get another of my project trucks up and legal I may give it up ij it...
Must be at least 23 of them out there with aftermarket front bumpers. Ihave the OD over chrome painted units fron GL to prove it App. 07 to 10 silvarado.
I agree that a true locker of any brand would be better in most off road situations than a LS . But I doubt an avid off roader would have been asking the questions that the person that started this thread asked.
The G80 option code from Gm has long been considered junk. If your truck is a boulavard cruiser go for an open diff. Cheap & plentyful. If you get in the dirt an eaton limited slip is worth the time and effort I'm not sure about retail but my cost from Randys ring&pinion is only about $335.
Niether of my 1028s have an external capaciter mounted on them.I'm not anelectrical expert but mine appear to have start windings and flyweight/contacts inside . too dark now to get a good reading off the data plate but if need be Ican get the specs in the am. let me know.
The front flange from a chevy or dodge 208 should fit the rear of your 205 but the bolt circle is likely gonna be smaller may require a flat plate adapter for the deuce flange. If I remember it I'll check in the am if you don't hear from me drop me an email or pm as a reminder.
I'ts just the nature of the beast. Also don't be surprised if sometime you're rolling to a slow stop on a slippery surface it feels like you got rearended. It's the locker doing its job. If you want smooth (less capable) go civy!!
If you want to go the aluminum case route better choic than a 208 would be an'89 to93 np 241.Still has right side front shaft plus better low range ratio 2.72 vs 2.61 can be custom built to 241DHD specs. these are used behind 94+ diesel trucks .
With a 205 case you will definatly want to remove the rear shaft ! a 1008 or 1009 with a 208 case you could get away with puttin the trans in park and the case in neutral as these units have an output shaft driven oil pump .However removing the rear shaft is quick easy insurance.
Heading to Eglin as soon as my EUC clears from North central Pa. Willbe passing thru harrisburg area on I81 If I can be of help then lrt me know . the only cavat is who knows how long it will take those jokers in battle creek to give me the ok to retrieve my stuff!
