What have you guys used, or what would anyone suggest be used, as the "armor" on an M35A2 gun truck I'm planning on building? One suggestion in an old MV magazine I have is Masonite reiforced with ripped 2x4's. This is more like "Hollywood Armor". The weight savings over steel would be nice, but...
How about including whether they come with valve stems and any other parts that need to be present to mount them? I know little to nothing, but my understanding is that if they don't have certain pieces with them, you have to source those pieces and it adds up... Just a suggestion.
D8dave,
I recall about four guys showing up at my house on a Sat or Sun and cheking out the armor, but I don't remember anyone making an offer! I had a guy stop in one night who was three sheets to the wind and make me a very nice offer, but I never heard from him or his designated driver...
Thanks Driver! Anyone with info on the "Forty Four Deuce" Line Haulers, please share or PM me. My Unlce was in country '68-'69. Always grateful...

Thanks Gents! The buyer is happy to share a trailer to keep costs down if it would work out. The most reasonable offer has been from my freight broker for $1475 including permits and an RGN trailer. I can drive it on the trailer and he can drive it off. The $460 quote is from a Uship broker and...
Looking for a price to haul RO/RO service from 13122 to 46614. Ramps or RGN needed to load/unload. I've gotten quotes as high as $6000.00 and as low as $460.00 (not holding my breath on that one). I hauled it 3000 miles for $3800 which included the wide load permits in every state it went...
Well, well, well... all the New Yorker Boys are coming out of the woodwork! I'm less than ten minutes from Caz and am waiting for a truck to haul my M35 home from Indiana. We really shouls have a gathering or camp-out. I know my 7 year old son would love to come along for something like that...
preacherboy,
My advice is to always relate a purchase like this to the Mrs. as an investment. List for her the multiple returns on your investment in as many areas as you can think of. Incorperate its ownership in areas she is interested in eg; camping, back-roading, love-making, restortion...
Congratulations, Sir! You are doing exactly what I have planned!!!:-D I have an uncle who was a Line Hauler in Viet Nam and want to do a truck in his (and every other trucker's) honor. Driver has been a great help in only one short email to him.
Great job and thank you for preserving the...
I, too, thought of this, but it would only be good for that particular truck or possibly residence. If you wanted to buy another or a neighbor wanted one, he'd be SOL. I believe it's best to keep an eye on them. If any ordinance having to do with MV's (or anything else for that matter) has to...
CONGRATS, BUT BE ADVISED:
Now that you have won, it would pay to be vigilant when the town board meets and the small-minded neighbors or busy-bodies try to change or add an ordnance that would make you and your truck an easy target in the future!
If opposition is bad, you might promote our...
A friend of mine has quite an extensive old car/truck/mv collection. He opens a box of DeCon and sets it on the floorboard inside the car in winter. He has never had a mouse problem in his vehicles. I guess this line of thinking is that they're gonna get in, so the plan is to eliminate them.
I have three ads, but have never changed the price on any of them and no problems. There is an explanation on the format to follow when entering a price, which says not to use dollar signs. Maybe that's part of the problem? :?:
Stonemill, I was gonna ask if I could get a weekend job like yours!
I'm just asking, but shoulen't there be some cribbing under the frame or a hoist backing up the jack stands in case something struck or bumped it hard enough to move it off the stands? I'd hate to see you or anyone else get...
I think this is the one they're talking about with the flames on the hood?

I thought the 465 was the 2.5 ton engine. Do you mean the 465 is the 5 ton engine? LDS = Superchaged, LDT = Turbocharged, correct? So what would the 5 ton engine designation be?
