I purchased the bracket and light shown in the trailer parts section of a local auto parts store. The light was chrome, so I scuffed and painted it. I forget the bulb number, but it's the same one used in the b.o. lights. I don't like NAPA's tag bracket and light; I found the style shown at an...
There are two sets of numbers: chasis and military "hood" number. Some of the trucks I got in had just the frame number, which is what you have, on the Form 97. Some had just the military "hood" number ie: O4JXXX71, while others combined the two.
Whoa! $55.00 for a mounting plate? No wonder I sold out @ $15.00 ea.!
Still have heaters, but you need to come here to put a complete unit together. $200.00
Mike,
You were right on! I didn't know that there was a fuse involved and I found a blown one. Replaced it and am back in business. Age and experiene causes me to get too technical and I overlook the simple things!
Thanks much,
Joe
My CUCV pickup started and ran fine the other day, but after it sat
for about half a day, the Wait and Water in Fuel lights did not come
on and it didn't want to start. I applied 12 volts to a lug on the glow
plug solenoid (on firewall) to activate it and the motor started fine. I
tried several...
I've heard of multifuels getting locked up by fuel in the cylinders. I forget the tech name for this problem, but it does lock the motor up. Gotta drain the fuel, I guess by pulling the injectors and cranking the motor to blow the fuel out? Does not appear to be a bearing problem.
It's my understanding that the LDS-427-2 was one of the first multifuels and it was extremely unreliable. I would never, ever, buy a truck with that engine in it. I base this on what I've heard.
Why not get an Operators Manual and get a lot of questions answered? I can't understand why newbies don't study before operating these, or any, trucks.
No need for one. Truck is not a schoolbus. Existing external mirrors should be adequate.
As to the high beam indicator, I think you should obtain an Operators Manual.
Edited: Manual should be available at the LOGSA site.
Mine came from New Life. Whatever you decide on, be sure that the back piece has the metal reinforcements in the side panels. I once had a top from another company, not mentioned here, that did not have the reinforcements, but that was several years ago.
