I put them on my M35A2, not for fuel mileage, but to ease the wear and tear on the front end. Works beautiful. Smoother ride and feels like I got a couple of more horses out of the motor.
>no wonder they quit making it.
It's still being made, I buy Shell GL1. Thin? It's 80W-90, thin compared to some lubes, I guess. You don't want thick goo in your gear bxes.
This just caught my eye: >Easy enough to pull the outside off and see if it filled with grease.
Are you referring to the front wheel drive flange? Filling the hub with grease is not packing the wheel bearings.
>I'm curious what purpose the fittings that I have serve.
Which fittings, the ones on top and bottom of the knuckle?
If packing grease in took away play, you have problems in there.
If you can get original metal wiper motord, go for it - Big Time!
Plastic units aren't much good, and chink new stuff usually doesn't work

I had also posted it to the mil-veh list and got the info I needed within a short time.
Quite a few experienced CUCV owners there. I have a new starter on hand and was going to pull the old one, not knowing there was a relay under the dash. What amazed me was John, the counterman at my local...
The deuce is right on, but that T-Bucket really turns me on! I had one in the sixties,
strictly for the drag strip, though. I still get urges to build a street roadster, probably
a '33 or '34.
If this was a civilan truck, I'd know where to start looking.
I don't know much about the electrics in a CUCV.
My M1008 is sitting by my garage, broke again. I got in it
yesterday and without thinking (I drive a Chevy Blazer a lot),
I hit the starter before the wait light went out. I quickly...
Peter,
You're welcome. I am definitely impressed by them! Like I told you, they're fir for framing and hanging on a wall in my office.
edited: fir should read fit. I make it sound like fir, as in wood, to make frames.
