Most of the time the king pins donot go bad only the nylon bushing in the top gets cracked/broken. They are only $6 each at the local gm dealer. Good luck explaining that you need a kingpin bushing to somebody at auto zone or advanced auto - they problaly went to school with your mechanic:-d

That is alot easier way to do the swap. Finding all the peices from a 1991 model is almost impossible. Does advance make an adpater for the 4l80e/np205 combo ?

True - i donot look at the speedo much when in 4 low.i spent a long time looking for a np 205 with a speed sensor - the whole tail shaft is different and they only used them in 1991 on v3500 models

WITH THE 2WD VERSION YOUR SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT BE CORRECT WHEN IN 4X4:wink:

One of my trucks is a air force crew cab - it is a 1991 v3500 and is all stock with gas motor 4l80e and np 205 t case. The other is a 1980 k30 4x4 - with a 454 tci controlled 4l80e and np 205 t case with speed sensor on case. Parts are very hard to find for this set up . It is alot...

Make sure to get a kit for a k30 model. If you use a kit for a k10 or k20 your truck will sit high in the front due to the dana 60 and larger axle tubes.

true if it was a dually with dually fenders and bed. but if it was a cab and chassis then it more than likely had a 14 bolt. i HAVE A 1982 GMC 3500 4X4 AIR FORCE AMBULANCE. IT HAS THE NARROW 14 BOLT REAR

never seen a corporate manufactured 4.88 ring and pinion for 14 bolt rear

You can buy the bolt thru a gm/chevy parts dept. They will have to order it but it is still available - expensive - like $16 dollars - i bought one for mine a couple of months ago - before i changed motors
