    Most people have the pumps professionally rebuilt, I believe that you need specialized equiptment in order to rebuild these correctly.

    I am able to start my m1009 in all temperatures without glowplugs if the block heater is plugged in, are you sure your heater is working?

    If the road is dry you should not have it in 4wd. You are experiancing torque bind which is normal if you are in dry pavement conditions...

    I never even leave my driveway with out: chainsaw, come-a-long, tow straps, 3/8's chain, hi-lift jack, tool box, 5 gallons of fuel, square point shovel, spare tire (or two).

    Timing is fine don't worry. You should put a little grease of some kind on the shaft and push it up there, it wont retract itself because you took away the "spring" when you removed the pump.

    That is right where my truck runs too. That is a vacuum pump back there it controls shift points for your transmission. Fuel line will work fine. Have you noticed better shifting yet? If not you may want to replace the line that goes to the tranny too.
