Get yourself a multimeter if you don't have one, they are cheap. Start poking wires. Any wire back there that gets power with the truck on, and doesn't when the truck is off, will work.
You probably don't need to remove your battery if you don't have a winterized CUCV. The battery heating 'box' is very much in the way of the passenger lights.
I was being careless today, brain wasn't on. Needed to change a blinker bulb on the passenger side so I went and removed the battery, tray, etc. Well, I should have remembered to disconnect BOTH batteries, because the positive touched the heater assembly and fried the blower motor. I would be...
Install lift kit, put the front of the frame on jack stands so the suspension/wheels etc hang free. If your splines are showing on the front shaft, it'll probably need lengthening. Rear shaft should be fine.
Nothing wrong with dropping the t-case, its just a couple spacers to correct angle. As long as the engine isn't banging against the firewall or something it won't hurt anything. In fact, I plan on dropping mine a little here soon... and I have extended drive shafts.
I think it may have been an exhaust pipe rubbing, I have a broken hangar. On an incline it must have hung lower and vibrated on the cross member. Sure sounded weird in the cab :-o
I noticed when I park on an incline, the truck makes a weird sound. Not sure how to describe it. Its almost like a mix between a sucking sound, and a whining sound... if that makes sense. Also hard to tell exactly where it comes from, seems to come from everywhere. What the heck is it?
Took my truck in to get some fuel leaks fixed and to get the brakes inspected. They noticed some wobble in the tire, turns out all FOUR bearings were shot! Maybe my death wobble will go away now
Turns out the hose just popped off. D'oh! Popped it back on, but the pump is weak and barely sprays at all. Going to pull the aftermarket pump out of my parts truck and bolt it to the firewall.
Got the grease gun and repacked everything with boat trailer axle grease.
Organized my bed box and re-stocked it with all the necessary fluids and extra parts.
I wouldn't bother upgrading a 10 bolt when you can spend the same amount and get something better.
3/4 ton axles are very common and cheap, thats the way I would go for a low buck solution. Too bad you don't live here, I have a 6 lug Dana 44 on my parts truck you could convert to 8 lug :P
