Just wondering, any one have a 100,000 plus on a 35A2?
Has anybody put any serious miles on there truck?
The Military seems to change out motors by time & mileage from what I've seen.
All the GL trucks I've looked at seem to have less than 35,000 miles.
Mine had a new engine & tranny in 1985...
Deuceman
In your inventory, do you have,
Air assist steering set up.
Front springs, hangers, shocks & mounts for a bob job.

A bigger problem is brakes. I'd say is getting the thing stopped is gonna be an issue with the brakes. You'll absolutely have to have a good brake controller. The Deuce is rated to pull 10K lbs, but these things are notoriously underrated and that rating might have something to do with...
Dr Greg,
Great find on your 5 ton, have lots of miles behind the wheel of a 817.
Have you got time to chat with a fellow WI resident about insurance registration and ect ect ? If so email me a phone# and a good time to call.
Thanks,

BFR,
Thanks for the info on the tires and hub flip. My truck is a M35A2 WO/W. Been debating what to do with the truck, was going to bobbed it then add a dump bed. Your crane set up has me thinking 1100 20 singled with a crane looks good. I've looked at all your pictures in this thread. One thing...
BFR,
Nice job on the truck & crane. Would you mind a couple FNG questions? What size tires are on your truck? And it looks like you turned your hubs around, how big of a job was that? Your pictures are the best I've seen of the truck it's self.
Thanks,
Mark
Back in the day we had a 208 TimberJack pole skidder with a 353 Detroit, was decking poles and killed the motor at the top of the pile. I let the clutch out as I was rolling backwards off the pile, it started the motor backwards. Was confused why it was running so poor, then the exhaust started...
FM5332FF,
Did you use the springs and hangers of a M105 trailer for the rear springs and hangers on your Bobbed Deuce? or the front springs off another truck?
Mark
I have used the "search" to the best of my ability. Looked at the posts that came up on "similar threads" No luck. Looked quite a ways back in the Deuce mod forum. So I did make an effort.
Have a source for the old 14.00 20's off a 5 ton bridge trucks, $20 each with 5 ton rim.
Plan on making my...
Clinton,
That truck is kick ass! Super job! Are you going to insulate your cab and floor some how? Or is the A/C big enough to keep ahead of all the heat that comes up through the floor?
Mark
FM5332FF,
I'm a FNG I picked my Deuce up & brought it home on 6/2. I'm going to "BOB" it, would you mind answering a couple questions? Why don't guys just cut the original bed down? It's only iron, my thought was shorten it and cut some wheel wells in it. or am I missing something besides a lot...
Thanks for the help Mike, you checking to see that the brakes didn't work saved me another trip. Turned the corner into Arby's & she died, bought a can of either at auto parts store just down from there. Got it to re-fire & made the truck stop and topped off. Then parked it. Wasn't sure sure if...
Dr. Greg,
Arrived home about 7:30pm, it was an epic journey. Arrived at Ft. McCoy about noon Monday started trouble shooting. Pulled the air line from the compressor to the air governor, nothing. Pulled the outlet line of the compressor, could hold my thumb over it. Luckily I remembered a well...
Dr. Greg,
If the air gauge is the bottom left on the picture it's kind of fuzzy but looks low. Mike said he didn't here any leaks. Will remember that trick. He said the truck has been there since this past winter, the description said driven on to lot. Stuff goes to heck just sitting. Google map...
