    Deuce vs Stump

Good thing I didn't take pics of pulling the azalea bushes I'll risk it. Deuce comes in handy for a bit of landscaping. Two are pulling down trees at the neighbor's house. I have yet to find out how to pull weeds in the garden.

    antifreeze in oil

Coolant Leak You might try getting a cooling system tester (small pump that pressurizes cooling system) remove the oil pan and pressurize the cooling system. Look for leak running down inside of block. If its from a cylinder it might be a head gasket (best case) If it appears to be from a...

    Guntruck from the 512th TC

Yellow lights Seems like someone was trying to get rid of some a couple of months ago. Try a search using amber lights. If I remember correctly there was a thread on how to convert you deuce headlights to a more common 24 volt setup avaliable at NAPA (Lucas lights?) and I think one of the...

    Low Gear on Deuce

Won't go into gear If its the transmission (as opposed to transfer case), one of the first (easy - no cost) things to check is the cluch adjustment. It the transmission is moving it might not want to go into first gear(hard to shift or grind) Does it go into 1st with the engine off? If it...

    Solargizer

What is the average voltage, at the battery, of a vehicle equipped with a Solagizer? Mine is sitting for the winter and the voltage at the battery is 24.9 volts (sun was out). That is about what it was when I put the Soligizer on about 3 months ago. Is this about normal? Before I put it on...

    Valve Question

compression If you can find an engine manual or a knowledgeable individual check to see if there is a compression release on the motor that might be stuck or work in a fashion you are not familiar with. Some engines have a compression release which remains open until the cranking speed...

    excessive blowby

Blow-by An old truck is going to have some blow-by. What you might also be seeing is a lot of condensation (lot of short trips) making its way out of the engine as it warms up. I would warm the engine up by driving it for a bit. I would then take an oil sample (kits at NAPA) I would then...

If you like me your getting a might forgetful nowadays, today as the Arctic blasts are descending on us here in Ohio it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't know if I had checked the antifreeze protection in the deuce. Thankfully I had and wrote it on the radiator in one of my previous...

    Gas in crankcase?!

Engine oil A word to the wise. I once put non-detergent oil in a car that had detergent oil in it before. After I did that it smoked like freight train on a 4 percent grade. I don't know why, being young and foolish I just got rid of the car.

Funny noise in 4th and 5th Gear

clutch If you think the clutch is slipping in 4th or 5th when you feel the vibration, floor it. If the clutch is slipping the engine speed will increase much faster than the trucks speed. Does it vibrate when the truck is moving at the speed you experience the vibration with the motor...
