Nuts
Thanks, I guess I am going to have to do just that. I did find a section in the repair manual dealing with those 12 bolts and it only says to tighten evenly. I can't believe they don't have a torque spec, as tight means many different things to different people. Thanks for the...
I can not find the torque specifications for the hub where the bearings ride on the front axle (12 3/8s studs). My experience with the manual on CD is less than productive. Does anyone know what its called and where in the manual I can find it Thanks
Kirkersville fuel/and meeting stop
Had a chance to meet a few Steel Soldiers on their way to Aberdeen. All were doing well and looking forward to the trip. Here are a few pictures of their vehicles for those poor soles, like me, who are unable to go. Have fun everyone.
Thanks again
Thanks again guys, back is flaring up again so I will have to take it easy but I can still work on the things that don't require any lifting.
Brake lines
Sorry to throw you a curve with the brake line number. Those did fit mine. When I was looking for replacement lines I took the old ones with me. The NAPA counter guy was able to find one pretty quickly. They had a specifications book that the guy looked through to find the...
Thank you
Dear Freighttrain and gringeltaub (and everyone else who has given me such good advice over the years):
Thank you for giving me back my will to live. I was really dreading having to pull the front axle to reinstall that seal. I sprained my back badly (unable to admit I am getting...
king pin
The current bushings are worn and the knuckle is loose. The existing bushings appear to be made with the grooves cut in them. On another note I got the axle seal loose. and it appears that it is to big to come out from the outside. Does this mean that I have to install it from...
I am replacing the king pin bushings on my 35 and I noticed the replacements I got from Memphis do not have a champher in the bushing (grease path) like the original bushings have. I would assume they are the right bushings and with the number of trucks they recondition. Anyone have...
Classifieds
What would you think about putting a push button at the top of the latest forum posts that stays there permanently. Push the button and you see the latest 20 posts to the classifieds (retain the present classified section as well). This way classifieds would be both in the high...
I 70 at Columbus
Earlier posts had mentioned stopping in the Columbus area for a meeting place. Just curious as to the date and time. Is there a schedule posted somewhere?
Thanks
Very similar to Hella with 80/100W-24V H4 lamps
What type/manufacturer are they? Where can you purchase them? I am tired of replacing the old ones on a regular basis. Thanks
Brake hose
I put two NAPA 4751 brake hoses on the front of mine. They looked exactly the same and fit just like the ones I took off. So far no problems
I know the grease question might be a bit out out of how full is full but I was initially asking because of this problem. Thanks again for all the help.
Thin Grease
For a while I have been plagued with brakes that grab on the right side. I finally got up the nerve (especially after those very detailed explanations of how to do on the site) to tear down the right side and put a new Axel seal, king pin bushings and brake 4 shoes and turn drums...
If the outer wheel bearings are lubricated by grease, how full do you fill the differential? To the plug or within xx percent on an inch of the plug? Sorry if this question has been asked before and I missed it. Thanks
