    Bigger tires - reuse tubes/flaps?

In years past, I have run 8.25 tubes in 900 tires, and 900 tubes in 1000's. I would at least use new tubes and flaps on the fronts. The flap is to protect the tube from chafing on the wheel.

Pulling tractor with a deuce engine

The engine manuals for the LDT 465 and LDS 427 are in the tech section. Not sure on the differences, except the 427 was not supposed to be as reliable in the field. Having never owned anything except the LDT 465, I can't say from experience. Pulling tractor? as in tractor pulls? What kind of...

Desplined front hubs keep the axles and gears from turning all the way home. Removes a lot of front end drag, and improves steering. I put on de-splined hubs and leave the driveshaft in. This works best with an airshift transfer case.......

    Deep water fording

If you keep positive pressure on the diffs all the time, you will end up pushing gear lube through the seals.

I would take a 1/2 drive socket set that went to 1 1/8", a 3/8 set, and a good set of combo wrenches. The usual automotive stuff, screwdrivers, pliers, channel locks, crescent wrench, pipe wrench, vise grips, hammer. Make sure the truck has a jack, or stop and pick one up at a parts place or...

Time for a rear main seal and a clutch?

    deuce hub flip

I wouldn't want to try that. You have to use a tube and flap in a tube type tire. It would be a real bear getting them in. Also, tubeless wheels have a "drop center" in the middle of the wheel rim where the tire bead drops in when getting the other 1/2 of the bead over the rim. If you've ever...

    11.00 X 20 on a Deuce

RE: 11.00 X 20 on a duce Mine has single 1100's. Standard wheels work fine.

I repeat.....deuce cab sleeping will not work for me. I'm too tall/fat. The deuce cab is not very wide compared to a standard pickup. You might want to lay down in one before you plan to sleep in one! Remember, this is a 38 year old truck, not a new Pete. Drive it easy for the first 50 miles...

    Mv wheeling in a hurricane!

How often you boys tear down your wheel brgs and re-pack them? Have you extended the vents up higher to keep water out of the diffs and gear cases? Looks like a fun weekend, I was just curious about the after-fun work.

I have an old rain coat that rides behind the seat for rainy days. Deuce windshields leak pretty heavily, so I throw the old raincoat over my legs to keep them dry when driving in the rain. The factory wipers really do suck.

    Dueces in Louisiana

I'll bet the engines are still full of water, along with the gearboxes. I wouldn't buy one unless I owned a lowboy to haul it home with, and then all you would get would be sheet metal parts, tires, and wheels. I would imagine everything else would be toast. Well, you might get a good radiator...

    Used motor oil

McMaster Carr (www.mcmastercarr.com) has small mesh bag filters. I use trade size 9, which are small enough to fit into the bung of a 55 gallon drum. I pump my used oil from one drum into another to the tune of about 10-12 gallons, then go fill the drum up with diesel. I keep my fuel ready-mixed...

Not too shabby! Do you know which turbo you have? Either way, some good ear muffs would be recommended. Foam earplugs eat your ears up after a few hours.

I would recommend picking up an air mattress and a pup tent when you get your truck. You can pitch the tent in the bed and stretch out on the air mattress. deuce cabs are not comfortable places to sleep if you are tall, or wide. I am both.

Take a camera. If your truck has an airshift t-case, you might want to take a set of de-splined front flanges along and install them before the trip. That will eliminate the front axle drag, improving ride, steering effort, and fuel economy. You can also pop out one of the rear axle shafts and...
