NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

Oh, good catch! Now I'm just plumb confused. The engine I bought says it's a "small cam". "Formula 290" is on the intake manifold. So maybe it had a manifold swap, or maybe they've mislabeled it as a small cam. I guess I'll find out next week when I get it in the shop.

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

Still waiting for someone to comment on that 1978 article about RPM.... So the next question coming to my mind is MPG. Assuming 14R20 tires on everything to compare apples-to-apples, what is everyone getting? On the same trip back from Kansas, my 8.3 got 12mpg (923). The 14L's ranged from 8-11...

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

That contradicts every thread I've read (on this forum and others) about the NHC-250's in the past 24 hours. They all say do not exceed 200 psi. One went into detail about the size difference (2" vs 2.5") and how the smaller cam lobes tend to shear off. I'll stick with the majority on this one...

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

I spent all of last night reading thru 4 very long threads, and have them jumbled, so I'm not sure if it was written in this one or not but... DO NOT RUN OVER 200 PSI FUEL PRESSURE as anything more than 200 will shear off the cam lobes on the Small Cams. The 290 I bought is locked up, hence why...

And for anyone wanting video (because this isn't a thread without video!), here are some of the best links I've found:

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

To summarize everything in this thread to this point: Plumbingbuddy claims he’s running cool with a #5 and no turbo – this is hard to believe. Jdknech says he is running a #15 with turbo and can get things warm sometimes. 162tcat is running a #20 and turbo and had no complaints of heat but...

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

I realize it's 2022 and everyone gets offended by anything, but take it easy - it's a joke

NHC 250 Turbo Conversion in M923

This many of you have turbo'd your 250's and no videos to be shown!?!? Y'all need to grow up! What is the consensus on numerically-lowest fuel button to run? #15 ?

    cucv leaf springs

Are those factory helper springs or aftermarket? I just bought a K30 that has 4 helper springs, but the leaf pack looks highly "rigged" as the bottom overload, as well as the 4 helpers, have all been crudely cut to length with an oxy/ace torch. I'm trying to rebuild the spring pack with another...

(Solved) M939 (M934) NHC-250 855 Starts, dies, sits, then eventually runs fine?

Funny. I was looking at the injection pump today and noticed the emergency fuel shut-off lever was roughly half-way up, rather than all the way forward towards the headlights. I pushed it all the way forward and now I haven't been able to replicate the problem. I should've left it alone till the...

(Solved) M939 (M934) NHC-250 855 Starts, dies, sits, then eventually runs fine?

Oh ya... Been so long since I've touched one of these that I forgot about that. I had to mess with those to get some of them off the yard after auction.

(Solved) M939 (M934) NHC-250 855 Starts, dies, sits, then eventually runs fine?

Would that just be unplugging the solenoid's electrical connector?

(Solved) M939 (M934) NHC-250 855 Starts, dies, sits, then eventually runs fine?

M939 (M934) NHC-250 855 1985-ish <9,000 miles on the odometer Drove home 4 hours without any issue whatsoever, even towed a load behind it. Had normal power for the gutless NHC 250. Putted it around the yard for 2-3 years after that. Never drove it more than 30 miles a year since then. Today...
